The roller can be towed over a short distance at low speed, if necessary. Follow the next
steps for towing:
a. There, on the driving motor, is a multi-function valve, on which the left and right
bypass valves (item 1 and 2 in the following Drawing 7) are mounted. Turn the left and
right bypass valves anticlockwise for 3 turns respectively. More specifically, two
wrenches are to be used. As shown in the Drawing 7, use a wrench of 1-1/16 inch to
loosen outer nuts on the bypass valves while the inner nuts are locked by a wrench of
1-1/4 inch. Turn the outer nuts anticlockwise for 3 turns ONLY for opening the bypass
valves, BUT NOT the inner ones, which are used to fix the whole multi-function valve
after adjustment of pressure. In reverse, screw the nuts clockwise to close the bypass
valves after towing.
1
Note!
(i). DO NOT turn the nuts anticlockwise for more than 3 and a half turns; otherwise
the multi-function valve may leak.
(ii). This bypass valves are used to release system pressure for temporary towing the
roller at a low speed and over a short distance under emergency condition when the
system is blocked. Long distance or high-speed towing is not allowed. The travel speed
of towing shall not be over 1km/h, and the time shall not be over 5 minutes; otherwise,
the pump and the motor may be damaged.
36

Generally speaking, the traction distance shall not be over 300 meters. Tow
the roller uphill when the roller is blocked during running down a slope to avoid
sliding.
37
XGMA (Sanming) Heavy Machinery Co., Ltd., Fujian, China
Two scrapers (item b in the following Drawing 12) are installed at front and rear of the
drum, preventing the dirt and clay from sticking or gathering around the drum surface. Since
these scrapers may become loosened after a period’s operation, regular adjustment is
required.
For adjustment of the scrapers (b), loosen up the bolts (a) in both sides of the steel wheel,
and adjust the scrapers to a proper position, then tighten the bolts. Check if there is any
deflection between the scrapers and the steel drum. If there are, re-adjust them. The clearance
between the scraper and the drum is preferably about 16mm.
Note!
A severe over-deflection of the scrapers to the drum will result in sooner wear of
the scrapers.
38
Operation & Maintenance Instructions of Hydraulic Vibratory Roller Operation, Application & Maintenance
a. The fuel, hydraulic oil and lubricant with low viscosity shall be adopted, and the
antifreeze shall be added to the engine coolant. For the detailed requirement of above
fluid, please refer to the Table of fuel and lubricant.
