ABSTRACT
• Now a days, street lighting systems in industries or cities are growing rapidly. The important considerations in
the field of different technologies like electrical and electronics are cost effective, automation and power
consumption.
• There are different street lighting systems are developed to maintain and control the lighting systems. These
lighting systems are used to control and decrease energy consumption.
• Street light controlling is one of the most developing system in India to conserve the energy. Street Light that
Glows on Detecting Vehicle Movement, Generally, street light controlling system is a simple concept which
uses a transistor to turn ON in the night time and turn OFF during the day time.
INTRODUCTION:
• Street lighting provides a safe nighttime environment for all road users including pedestrians. Providing street
lighting is one of the most important and expensive responsibilities of a city. Lighting can account for
10–38% of the total energy bill in typical cities worldwide.
• The main objective of the project is to reduce the power consumption and efficient utilization of renewable
sources for the application of street lightening and traffic signaling.
• Hence, this paper is aimed at design and implementation of an automatic system to control the traffic and
reduce energy consumption of streets public lighting system up to the maximum possible extent.
• LDR is used to detect the presence of day light. The proposed system is able to control the traffic during the
day as well as night. In this system, the streetlights are switched ON/OFF automatically during the presence
of the traffics only during the nights.
AIM
• Our aim is to control street lights from remote location and monitor meter readings on IOT.
• During night each one of the lights on the expressway stay ON for the vehicles, yet loss of power is
experienced when there is no vehicle movement. This proposed framework satisfactorily works for energy
saving. This is accomplished by detecting a vehicle moving towards the street and turns ON a block of street
lamps in front of the vehicle.
• As the vehicle moves forward by, the trailing lamps turn OFF on its own. By doing this, a considerable
amount of power is saved. So each of the road lights stay in OFF condition when there are no vehicles on the
street. There is another method of operation where instead of turning OFF the lights totally, they stay ON with
ten percent of the extreme intensity of the light .
• As the vehicle approaches, the block of road lamps change to hundred percent intensity and as the vehicle
moves forward by, the trailing lights return to ten percent power once more. HID lamps are utilized for
metropolitan road lights.
OBJECTIVES
• Allows the controller/monitoring person to check estimate power consumptions as per current
intensity of light as well as predict power consumption
• Expands into speed direction and customizable area of illumination
• Enhanced safety and security
• To save the power and use it efficiently
• Automatically regulates the light intensity based on sunset/sunrise times, daily schedule ,human
presence, traffic, and weather condition
EXISTING SYSTEMS AND ITS LIMITATIONS
• INITIAL COST: The installation of automatic street lights can be expensive, especially if the
infrastructure for automation is not already in place
• MAINTANANCE: Automatic street lights require regular maintenance to ensure proper functioning,
which can add to overall cost
• TECHNICAL ISSUES: Like any automated system, automatic street lights can experience technical
issues such as sensor malfunctions or power failures
• LIMITED CUSTOMIZATION: It may have limited options for adjusting brightness or timing,
which may not suitable for some locations
PROPOSED SYSTEMS AND ITS ADVANTAGES
• REDUCED COSTS
While street lights can be expensive on the offset, they quickly pay their way with reduced
maintenance costs. They can be continuously monitored giving operators the capability to identify and predict
faults before they become major issues.
• One of the primary challenges in writing a literature review on automatic street light control systems is
the vast amount of information available
• Understanding and interpreting the intricate details of various studies, experiments, and theories require a
high level of expertise and attention to detail
• Moreover, ensuring the accuracy and credibility of the information presented in the literature view is
paramount
• Individuals can save time and effort while ensuring the excellence of their literature review on automatic
street light control systems
• Offers expert assistance in crafting literature reviews tailored to the specific requirements and objectives
of the clients

APPLICATIONS
FLOW CHART
CONCLUSION
• The implemented model is a less cost, pragmatic, eco friendly and the most secure approach to save energy. As
per the statistical information 35%-40% of electrical energy is currently utilized by the national highways, state
highways and local street lights.
• The initial investment cost and erection may be the disadvantage, but with the bulk production of the module the
overall cost of investment can be reduced further due to advancement in innovation and technology the cost of
the project can be further reduced.
• The project has scope in different applications like providing lighting for office, building, grounds, walking paths
and parking garages of large shopping centers. This can also be utilized for security surveillance in corporate
buildings, businesses centers, school premises etc.
