I. DIRECTION: Solve the following given problem. Show your solution.

FRACTION
1. Baking Cookies: Sarah wants to bake chocolate chip cookies, and the recipe calls for 3/4 cup of
sugar. She only has 1/2 cup of sugar left in her pantry. How much more sugar does she need to buy
to make the cookies?

2. Pizza Slices: If a large pizza is divided into 8 equal slices and you eat 3/4 of the pizza, how many
slices have you eaten?

3. Sharing Candy: Emma has 2/3 of a bag of candies, and she wants to share them equally among her
4 friends. How much candy will each friend get?

4. Painting a Room: If a room is 5/8 painted and you want to finish the job, how much more of the
room do you need to paint?

5. Mixed Numbers in a Recipe: In a recipe, it calls for 1 and 1/2 cups of flour, but you only have 3/4
cup. How much more flour do you need to complete the recipe?

6. Fruit Salad: You're making a fruit salad using 1/3 apples and 1/4 oranges. If you want to use equal
amounts of apples and oranges, how many oranges should you use for every 2 apples?

7. Juice Containers: If you have 3/5 of a jug filled with orange juice and you pour 1/4 of it into a
glass, how much juice is in the glass?

8. Farm Animals: On a farm, there are 12 cows, 5 horses, and 7 sheep. What fraction of the animals
are cows?

9. Money Savings: If you save 1/8 of your weekly allowance, and you receive $16 each week, how
much money do you save?

10. Recipe Scaling: A recipe makes 12 cupcakes and calls for 2/3 cup of sugar. If you want to make 24
cupcakes, how much sugar should you use?
RATIO AND PROPORTION

1. Mixture Ratios: You are making punch for a party. The recipe calls for mixing 3 parts of soda with
2 parts of fruit juice. If you want to make 10 cups of punch, how many cups of soda and fruit juice
should you use?

2. Sharing Money: Sarah and John share their weekly allowance in a 2:1 ratio. If they receive $30,
how much does each of them get?

3. Paint Colors: In an art class, the teacher mixes paint in a 5:3 ratio of blue to green to create a
specific shade. If the teacher needs 24 ounces of blue paint, how much green paint should be used?

4. Marbles: A box contains red, blue, and green marbles in a 2:3:4 ratios. If there are 60 marbles in the
box, how many are blue?

5. Ingredients: A pancake recipe requires mixing flour, milk, and eggs in a ratio of 2:3:1. If you need 4
cups of milk, how much flour and how many eggs should you use?

6. Scoring Goals: In a soccer game, a player scored 12 goals in 8 games, while another player scored
15 goals in 10 games. Find the ratio of their goal-scoring rates.

7. Proportional Sharing: Four friends want to share a pizza, and they agree to split it in a 3:2:2:1 ratio.
If the pizza has 8 slices, how many slices does each friend get?

8. Mixing Solutions: You have two solutions, one with a 2:5 acid-to-water ratio, and the other with a
3:4 acid-to-water ratio. If you mix 100 milliliters of the first solution with 150 milliliters of the

3. If 3 pens cost $6, how much would 7 pens cost?

4. A rice cooker takes 20 minutes to cook 4 cups of rice. If you want to cook 8 cups of rice, how long
will it take in the same rice cooker?

5. A car travels a certain distance in 3 hours at a constant speed. If the car's speed is 60 miles per hour,
what is the distance it travels?
