quadrilaterals.
B. Performance Standards: By the end of 45 minutes the learners are able to:
 Find the perimeter of quadrilaterals and composite figures compose of triangle
and quadrilaterals.
C. Learning Competencies: Find the perimeter of quadrilaterals that are not squares and rectangles.

D. Learning Objectives:

BEFORE/PRE-LESSON PROPER

Preliminary Activities:

Drill:
sing a song with dance
A. ACTIVATING PRIOR KNOWLEDGE

Review: What are the shapes that has 4 sides?

Square, Rectangle and parallelogram,
trapezoid, and rhombus.

B. LESSON PURPOSE:

The pupils will arrange the jumbled letter.

ERIPTERME PERIMETER
PARALLELOGRAM
MARGLOELLARAP DISTANCE
CETANSID WIDTH
DIWTH LENGTH
GTHLEN
PERIMETER
A math concept that measures the total length
around the outside of a shape

PARALLELOGRAM
A quadrilateral in which the opposite sides are
parallel and equal

DISTANCE
the measurement or extent of something from
side to side.

WIDTH
the measurement or extent of something from
side to side

LENGTH
the measurement or extent of something from
end to end; the greater of two or the greatest of
three dimensions of a body.

DURING/LESSON PROPER

READING THE KEY IDEA:

The teacher read the story below:

Mr. Cruz has a vegetable garden in his backyard and

he planted a variety of vegetable seedlings for his
family. His garden is in a shape of parallelogram with
a length of 50m and a width of 20m. What is the total
distance around his vegetable garden?
C. DEVELOPING AND DEEPENING
UNDERSTANDING

Questions:
1. Who has a vegetable garden? Mr. Cruz
2. What is in the backyard of Mr. Cruz? Vegetable garden
Do you have vegetable garden in your Answers may vary
backyard? Answers may vary
What is the shape of your vegetable garden?
3. What are the nutrients we get when we eat
vegetable? What is the total distance of the vegetable
4. Why do we need to plant vegetable at home? garden.
5. What is asked in the problem?
6. What are the given facts that can help you solve The 50m length and a 20m wide of the
the problem? vegetable garden.

Here is the illustration of Mr. Cruz’s vegetable

garden.

50m

What is the length of the vegetable garden?

20m
What is the Width of the vegetable garden? Total distance of the vegetable garden
What is asked in the problem?

Now let us answer what is asked in the problem which is

the total distance of the vegetable garden.

Discus to the pupils the steps on how to find the perimeter

of the vegetable garden.

1. Identify the length and width of the vegetable

garden.
Length = 50m
Width = 20m

2. Add all the measurements of all sides of the

garden. Since the figure has 4 sides, we say that
perimeter = length +length + width + width (P= l +
l + w + w)

3. Using the formula, we substitute the measurement

of each side then add them together.
P= l + l+ w + w
P= 50m + 50m + 20m + 20m
P=140m

Therefore, the perimeter of the vegetable garden is

140 meters.

Example 2.

A parallelogram has a length of 65m and a width of

30m what is the total distance of a parallelogram?

Who can draw a parallelogram?

The length of parallelogram is 65m
What is the length of a parallelogram?
The width of a parallelogram is 30m
What is the width of a parallelogram?
P= L+L+W+W
What is formula in finding the total distance or a
perimeter of a parallelogram?
P=190m
What is the perimeter of a parallelogram?

GROUP ACTIVITY

GROUP 1
Draw and find the perimeter of a parallelogram 90m
with a length of 30m and width of 15 m.

Group 2
Measure the block which is shaped like a of parallelogram Answer may vary
and find its perimeter.

Group 3
Cut in a shape of a parallelogram with a length of 150m
45m and a width of 30m then find its perimeter.

APPLICATION:

Work in a group and do the following task

1. Using colored paper, cut a shape of parallelogram

with a length of 15cm and a width of 10cm.

2. Find an object inside the classroom that in shape

of a parallelogram then measure it and find its
perimeter.

3. Draw the things that you see inside the classroom

in a shape of parallelogram.

AFTER/POST-LESSON PROPER

D. MAKING GENERALIZATIONS AND

ABSTRACTION:

How do we find the perimeter of a In finding the perimeter of a

parallelogram? parallelogram we will use the
formula of
P=L+L+W+W
How do we calculate for the perimeter of a
parallelogram? Get the sum of the lengths and width
or get the sum of the measurements
of its sides.

FORMATIVE ASSSESSMENT AND TEACHERS

E. EVALUATING LEARNING

Find the perimeter of a parallelogram.

1. What is the perimeter of a parallelogram with a P=160m

length of 50m and width of 30m

2. The floor of your house is a shape of parallelogram

with a length of 65m and width of 20m.what is the P=170m
perimeter?

3. A tile is a shape of parallelogram with a length of

25m and a width of 12m. What is the perimeter?
4. A cloth that is cut in a shape of parallelogram has a
length of 30m and width of 25m. what is the P=110m
perimeter of the cloth?
