Student Handout: Functional Language Sorting Exercise

Instructions:
Below are mixed-up phrases commonly used in front office and reservation
situations. Organize the phrases under the correct category: Greeting &
Welcoming Customers, taking a Reservation, Answering Booking
Inquiries, Confirming Details, or Seating Customers.

Mixed Phrases:
1. "What time do you serve lunch/dinner?"
2. "Would you like a table inside or outside?"
3. "Here is your table. Would you like to sit inside or on the terrace?"
4. "Could you spell your name for the booking, please?"
5. "Your table is ready. Please follow me."
6. "Yes, we have a children’s menu available."
7. "Do you have any special requests (e.g., non-smoking area, children’s
menu)?"
8. "We are open from [opening hours]. We’re closed on [day]."
9. "Is there anything else I can help you with?"
10."Good morning/afternoon. How can I help you today?"
11."So, that’s a table for [number] people on [date] at [time]."
12."I’d like to make a reservation for [number] people, please."
13."Do you have a car park?"
14."Your table is booked for [day] at [time]. We look forward to seeing you."
