number of beats in a measure. The lower number tells the kind of note that gets one beat.)

Music conductors help people sing together. They do this by showing the bet of a song through arm movements that follows
certain pattern. The patterns are based on the number of beats per measure as shown by the upper number of the time
signature. The following are simple time signature 2/4, ¾, 4/4, and 6/8.

Let’s follow the different patterns.l

a. Read and clap the rhythmic patterns.
b. Sing and hum the rhythms in neutral syllables.
c. Conduct each rhythmic pattern while singing.

Rhythmic patterns can be created by combining notes and rests in a repeated manner.

Can you create a simple rhythmic pattern and do the clapping? Don’t forget that a 6/8 time
signature, an eight note receives one count / beat.
