INTRODUCTION
Tally is an ERP accounting software suite used for capturing a company’s day-
today business data. Tally ERP 9 software is a popular financial accounting and
inventory management system. It is one of the greatest accounting software
programs that can be combined with other company applications such as sales,
finance, purchasing, payroll, inventory, and so on. Tally software keeps
detailed records of all company transactions for each account. It uses a double-
entry accounting method, which eliminates and corrects potential mistakes.
The software is one of the most widely used accounting programs in India. It is
full enterprise software for small and medium-sized businesses.
The program is a fantastic blend of function, control, and built-in
customizability for a superb business management solution and GST software.
Tally. ERP 9 enables business owners and their associates to interact more in
account-related discussions. It is a complete product that retains its original
simplicity while providing comprehensive business functionalities such as
Accounting, Finance Management, Inventory Handling, Sales, Purchase &
Selling, Sales, Manufacturing, Job Costing, Payrolls, and Branch Management,
as well as compliance capabilities for Excise, GST, TDS, and TCS.
Tally is little more than computerized accounting. We keep accounts in manual
books and record accounting entries as debit and credit. We make entries in
Tally in the same way.

The Gateway of Tally is the main screen in Tally ERP 9, serving as the central
hub from which users can access various features and functions. It is designed

for users to manage their accounting and business activities.

Key Components of the Gateway of Tally

1. Company Information

• Select Company: Allows users to select and open a company’s data.


• Shut Company: Closes the company that is currently open.
• Create Company: Initiates the process to create a new company in Tally
ERP 9.
• Alter Company: Permits modification of the existing company’s details.
• Split Company Data: Helps in splitting company data at the end of the
financial year or for any other reason.
• Group Company: Enables creating a group company by combining
multiple companies for consolidated reports.

2. Masters

• Chart of Accounts: Includes ledgers and groups essential for accounting.


• Stock Items: Manages inventory items, groups, categories, and units of
measure.

Navigating the Gateway of Tally

• Menus and Sub-Menus: The Gateway of Tally is structured in a


hierarchical manner with main menus and sub-menus, making it easy to
navigate to specific features.
• Buttons and Shortcuts: Various buttons and keyboard shortcuts are
available for quick access to frequently used functions.
• Search Functionality: Users can search for specific features or reports
