House-Bedroom (First Scene)

(Scene opens up to mc waking up to the blaring sound of his alarm, disoriented and slightly
startled by the alarm. He checks his time on one of his devices and realises that he is
running late for school.) [Alarm Continuously Ringing]

Mark: (Shocked/Groggy) Oh God! I'm running late for school, I gotta get up fast!
(Goes to the bathroom)

Rodrick: (Enters the room Shouting) > Mark! Have you paid the bill in my stead like i told
you last night. I have something going on this morning. Remember to pay it i’ll be
back in 30 minutes.

Mark: (Shower Noise, Choppy Voice inside. Mark just replied without even understanding
what his brother said) Yeah yeah I’ll do it! Just...Give me a moment here!
[Mark with a distracted mind agreed to the question, with a grunted tone.]

Rodrick: (Enters the House) Mark, Have you paid the bill yet? (Asked in a hurrying tone)

Mark: (Mark asks in a confused tone about what his brother was talking about) What bills?

Rodrick:THE ELECTRIC BILLS MARK (He emphasises) .You know we are about to get
our electricity cut off today! You know what? Just give the money and bill to Jessie,
let him handle it. Unlike you, Jessie has a sense of responsibility and does things
meticulously. (he told mark disappointingly)

(Jessie comes out of the room)

Rodrick: (hearing his brother’s door open he proceeded to go to him and ask) Jessie, can
you pay the bills later today?

Jessie: Yeah, I’ll pay the bills on the way to the local market. (And then proceeds to walk
into to the bathroom)

Rodrick: Yes, please Jessie. We badly need to pay the bills right now, just hurry up
before they cut us off. Thank you!

(Then Jessie just give Rodrick a smile and nod)

Mark: ♦(Quietly contemplate on the side feeling depressed and exits the door)
Rodrick: (Rodrick glanced at mark disappointed and said nothing)
(Public Setting) Transport - Encountering Bestfriend

Mark: (While on his way to the bus station, Mark wonders about why his older brother, is
always comparing him to Jessie; contemplating what he did wrong)

(While rushing on his way to the bus station he encounters his best friend who is also late)

Shaun: (Shaun walks to mark wondering if this is his best friend mark) Hey! Is that you
mark?

Mark: Shaun?! (surprised by coming across with Shaun, his best friend)

(They both proceeded to enter the bus.)

Shaun: (As they sat down on one of the seats in the bus♠) It seems like I am not the only
one who’s gotta be late (then he smirked to Mark)

Shaun: Do you think Robert and Ben reviewed for the recitation today?

(5 Seconds Before replying)

Mark:(Preoccupied with his thoughts and looking out the window. Mark replied without
thinking) I..I guess? (spoke in a low tone)

Shaun: (He was looking through his phone, not noticing Mark’s Odd behaviour yet) Knowing
both of them they probably studied just this morning. (he smirked while looking through
the phone.)

Mark: (4 seconds) Mhmm….yeah…

Shaun: Hey do you want to eat at 7-11 before we go inside the school? (Shaun said
with enthusiasm)

Mark: [6 seconds] Mmm…no..

Shaun: Alright, alright let’s eat after the first subject then (he grumbled while still not
noticing Mark’s behaviour today)

Mark: [3 Seconds] (Mark not wanting to talk looking at the bus clock responds in an
awkward tone) Sure…

VO Rodrick: (comparing Mark to Jessie about his achievement and grades♦ at school, how
responsible jessie is, and how he is irresponsible) Unlike you, Jessie has a sense of
responsibility and does things meticulously}

Shaun: (placing a hand on mark’s shoulder he told mark) Hey Mark! Let’s go, we're at our
bus stop already! Come on, let's go. (in an urging tone)

Mark: (Notices that they’re already at their bus stop replied) Yes, On it!

(Gets out of the bus and proceeds to walk toward to school)

Shaun: (Shaun now notices that his best friend was out of character today. He proceeded to
ask) Hey Mark, Got something in your mind, bud?

Mark: It’s all about my— no.. it- it’s just about the recitation that will happen later
(Mark hesitates to tell about his problem, instead he shifted it towards their recitation today)

Shaun: Really, are you sure though? Just tell me if there’s something wrong, buddy.
I’m all ears!

Mark: It’s nothing really! I’m just nervous about the recitation…..that’s all. Anyway, did
you study about Sir Carter’s topics last night?

Shaun: Of course, man! His topics are so easy to understand! How about you though?
Looks like you've been studying all night.

Mark: (Mark hesitates to ask if what he researched is correct.) I… Yes, of course.

Shaun: (notices Mark checking on his watch and then he wraps his arm around his neck and
back and says) Hey man, don’t worry, Sir Carter always starts later than our usual time.

Mark: … (he just looked at the road ahead and didn't reply to Shaun at all)
School Scene - Hallway (2nd Scene)

(While both Shaun and Mark are walking as they entered the school they encountered Ben &
Robert in the hallway talking about the recitation)

Seeing Shaun and Mark, Ben & Robert said at the same time: Hey! It’s you both hurry up
we’re about to start in about 5 minutes (Proceeds to walk to the room)

Shaun: Yo Guys! (Shaun proceeds to fist bump both Ben and Robert.) How far have you
guys studied? [Enter topic Aircraft History] {Wright Brothers}

Robert: I looked all that was needed for our recitation (Smirks and said to shaun
cheerfully)

Ben: Me too, But i only studied the key words. (Said while interrupting Shaun and Robert)

Mark: (Meanwhile, Mark didn’t understood the topic because he didn’t quite understand what
the professor was pointing towards the subject)
(Mark hesitatingly agreed with them without confidence) M…me too! Anyway, let’s just go
inside our classroom!

(Mark & His friends starts walking to their designated classroom for the 1st subject)
Classroom - Recitation with Ineffective Communication (3rd Scene)

(When Mark and his friends arrived in their classroom, they saw the professor preparing the
materials for their recitation)

(After settling down their professor started to proceed with the class)

Mr. Carter: (Class Murmurs) Okay class! Please, take a seat and we will begin our
recitation shortly.[Wright Brothers Real Topic]

<After everyone take their seats>

Mr Carter: We will now proceed with our recitation. Now, who could tell me who the
Wright Brothers are? Anyone?

Ben: (Raised his hand with confidence to answer) Sir. Based on what I researched, the
Wright Brothers were the first to invent the Fixed-Wing Aircraft.

Mr. Carter: (Answer Approvingly) Good. Now, how about you Robert, can you tell me
what year it happened?

Robert: (Stands Nervously) Uhm sir, based on what I researched they first flew their
Fixed-Wing Aircraft on December 17, 1903.

Mr. Carter: (Smiled and said) Okay, now you may take your seat, Now everyone, anyone
wanna add something else?

(Shaun raises his hand)

Mr Carter: Mr. Bautista.

Shaun: (stands up after being called) Sir I would like to add that they added a moveable
rudder and more precise yaw when they had designed the prototype.

Mr Carter: Thank you, Mr. Bautista. Anyone else that would like to add? How about
you Mr. Whitlock?

Mark: (he looks confused/appalled but answers hesitantly) Uhm sir based on what i
researched, Hans von Ohain was the designer of the first operational Jet engine
during the events of World War 2, sir.
Mr Carter: (becomes confused and asked) Mr Whitlock, that is not the given topic I told
you to research about. Why are you so advanced in your recent research?

Mark:(shockingly confused about Mr Carter’s question) ….

Mr Carter: Well Mr Whitlock? (becomes a bit impatient with Mark's lack of answer) If you
don’t have anything to say then sit down.

Mark: (still shocked slowly just sat down slowly.)

An Extra Responded: Sir! (Raised hand) (Then talks about the topic)

Mr. Carter: Yes?

<The camera focuses on Marks’ face, as he realises something isn’t right, as that's
happening, the class continues.> (Zooms on Mark as the Bell rang)

(While exiting the classroom Mr. Carter called Mark)

Mr. Carter: (Looking at Mark seriously) Mr. Whitlock can I have a moment with you?

Mark: (stops before walking through the exit and slowly walks towards Mr Carter
hesitantly)Yes Sir Carter?....

Mr Carter: (he sighs) Why did you research the wrong topic for this recitation earlier today
hmm? (looks expectantly at Mark)

Mark: (Answered honestly) I’m sorry sir!, i was quite distracted last meeting being the
reason i wasn’t able to properly listen to you. (Rephrase)

Mr.Carter:(with Mr Carter looking with curiosity) Huh?? What made you distracted?

Mark:(unable to answer honestly)....Its just stress load from school works and house chores

Mr Carter: (Knowing that Mark hasn’t told the whole truth he decided to let it be for now)
Well, if you have any problems please address me, okay?

Mark: (nodding without any other choice) Okay sir…

Mr Carter: You may go then, Mr Bautista. (proceeds to exit the classroom and into the
hallway)
4th Scene: Road/Sidewalk

(Scene cuts to Mark about to walk to the bus station. When suddenly Shaun catches up to
him and placed his hand on Mark’s shoulder)

Shaun: (Shaun looks at Mark intently) Hey Mark, you've been out of it since morning.
And you have a problem, so what is it?

Mark: (looks at Shaun silently, his voice caught in his throat)...

Shaun: (noticing Mark’s distressed look)

Come on! you don’t really look fine for a while now. Tell me about it bro.
(creates a reassuring tone)

Mark: (Takes a deep breath and then sighs) It’s just my family Shaun, we’ve been
quarrelling a lot lately. My older brother always complains about my grades as well as
my achievements. He is always comparing me to Jessie, I just…(pauses for 1
second).... feel pressured I don’t know what to do anymore

(Shaun and then put his arm around Mark’s shoulder)

Shaun:Hmm I see… Alright hear me out. I know things could get messy and it's really
easy to compare accomplishments to other people, but you have to communicate
how you feel. I’m sure they’ll understand it, they are your family after all.

Mark: (gives a thankful smile) Thanks man.. I’ll do that.

(They arrived at the waiting area at the bus and Shaun grins at Mark)

Shaun: Come on Mark. Our bus is gonna arrive soon, let’s ride on the bus And get you
and your family to talk things straight out, and have a heart to heart conversation.

(Then they proceed to get on the bus, After arriving at their station they proceeded to get out
and walk towards their respective street while walking Shaun comforted Mark for the last
time)

Shaun: (Smiled in a comforted word and said as they parted ways) You can do it man, out
of all of the people I know I’m sure you’ll do fine. Just take it easy alright?

Mark: (Just nodded at Shaun’s words)

5th Scene - House/ Troubled Mark

(Mark arrived at their house, he opened the door slowly.)

(He heard Rodrick say talking to Jessie in the other room and decided to eavesdrop right by
wall between the living room and the kitchen)

Rodrick: Jessie, ready the dishes we’re about to eat

Jessie: Okay, one moment!

Rodrick: (As Rodrick exits the kitchen he saw Mark standing and looks at him)

Mark: Brother! (Said in a serious tone) I wanted to talk to you about something

Rodrick: (Looking at his serious younger brother Rodrick agreed) Sure! We can talk after
we’re done eating.

Mark: Okay….(he goes back to the dining table)

(after eating silently and finishing the food Jessie volunteered to wash the dishes)

Jessie:

(Looking at Mark sympathetically)

(Rodrick & Mark agreed proceeds to walk to a room to talk about their conflicted relationship)
Alright/Sure

Mark:Hey I-I have something to tell you Rodrick, and before you say anything please…
just hear me out.

Rodrick: (Rodrick concerned about his little brother said) What's wrong? Okay I'll hear you
out.

Mark: It's just... the pressure from school and home is overwhelming. I feel like you
expect too much from me, and my workload just keeps piling up. I get so distracted
and confused that I don't know what to prioritize anymore. And when you compare me
to Jessie, it makes me feel useless, like I'll never be good enough. The pressure is so
heavy that sometimes, I just want to give up. I wish you could understand, see what
I'm going through, and help me
Rodrick: (Rodrick feeling his brother in a depressed tone said) oh I’m sorry Mark. I didn't
know that I was stepping out of my bounds. It's just that lately I'm feeling depressed about
my work. I’m sorry you’ve been the one that i’m venting my anger with, it’s just i have been
having trouble I’m really sorry Mark

Mark: (Starts Crying) (and Hugs Rodrick)

Jessie: (Jessie out of nowhere pats Mark shoulder and said) Don’t worry Mark i’m always
here, don’t think too much about the house workload. I'm here if you need me, if you
need to focus on your study just tell me so i can know in advance.

Rodrick: Well, I don’t think that crying our eyes out will lighten the mood little brother,
so how about we go out and have fun tonight, my treat!

Mark: I would love that actually.

(The Three Siblings proceeded to laugh their hearts out before walking out of the door and
scene)

6th Scene - Going to School

Characters

(Waking up with the alarm ringing Mark proceeds to prepare his stuff to bring to school
walking outside his room he sees his brother in a work suit)

Rodrick: Oh Mark you’re awake the food is already on the dining table prepared by
Jessie make sure to eat before going to school.

Mark: Alright brother… See ya at night (Waving his hand and saying goodbye)

(cuts to the scene where Mark is Walking and saw his Best Friend waiting for him)

Shaun: Oh Hi! Mark! Is everything resolved about your problem?

Mark: (Mark said in a cheerful way) Yes! Thank you for your advice, I was able to talk to
my older brother and make him understand my situation.

Shaun: (Shaun relieved that his friend is alright and said) That’s good to hear, So shall we
get going now!

Mark: (Mark replied cheerfully) Sure, Let’s go!

(Scene cuts of them walking to Them sitting in a classroom waiting for Mr. Carter)

School - Effective Communication

Mr. Carter: Alright everyone, you may take your seat we will start our lesson in a bit…

Mark: (Raises his hand confidently)

Mr Carter: Okay, Mark.

Mark: Sir, based on what we talked about last time. We now know that the Wright
Brothers were the first people who flew a Fixed-Wing Aircraft during December 17,
1903.

Mr. Carter: Very good, mark! (said while noticing the positive attitude of Mark) I noticed
that you look better today. Have you resolved your problems? Did you take my
advice?

Mark: I did take everyone's advice sir, it's a slow process but I did take it to heart and
everything worked out fine in the end.

Mr.Carter: That’s good, i’m glad to hear that everything is fine like i always say Good
communication leads to Effective communication.

<The camera pans out of view fading into black>
