2. Rationale of the Course:

This sessional course is designed to understand, analyze and evaluate various basic mechanical systems those are typically
found around us. In this course, the students are instructed to get familiar with modern IC engines, refrigeration system,
psychometrics, steam boilers and different energy systems. The students get the opportunity to study the IC engines,
refrigeration system, and steam boilers along with their working principle of them so that students can be able to apply in
future. The students will also discuss among themselves in groups about the energy systems of the world with current
standings. They also will understand and determine the relative humidity using a sling Psychrometer to integrate this idea
along with all the instructions in their future workplace.

3. Course Content:

Exp-01: Study of different energy systems

Exp-02: Description of working principle and main parts of SI engine
Exp-03: Description of working principle and main parts of CI engine
Exp-04: Demonstration of vapor compression refrigeration system
Exp-05: Demonstration and description of water tube boiler
Exp-06: Study of a sling psychrometer and determination of relative humidity
4. Course Objectives:
After completing the ME 1102 course, students should be able to do the following:
i. Demonstrate different energy sources and their utilization.
ii. Understand and analyze various parts and working principle of IC engines (SI and CI engines), steam boilers and
refrigeration system.
iii. Demonstrate and determine relative humidity using sling psychrometer.
