1. The distance between two towns is 250 km and is represented by a line of length 50mm on a map.
Construct a scale to read 600 km and indicate a distance of 530 km on it.

2. A rectangular plot of 100 sq. km is represented on a certain map by a rectangular area of 4 sq. cm.
Draw a scale to show 50km and mark a distance of 46km on it.

3. An area of 400 square centimeters on a map represents an area of 25 square kilometers on a field.
Construct a scale to measure up to 5 km and capable to show a distance of 3.56km. Indicate this
distance on the scale.

4. If 1cm long line on a map represents a real length of 4m. Calculate the RF and draw a diagonal scale
long enough to measure up to 50m. Also draw a comparative scale to show chains, yards and feet and
read up to 2.5 chains. On the scale show the distance in British system equivalent to 44.5m. Take 1
chain=20.1168m

5. A car is travelling at a speed of 60 kph. A 4 cm long line represents the distance covered by the car
in two hours. Construct a suitable comparative scale up to 10 hours. The scale should be able to read
the distance travelled in one minute. Show the time required to cover 476 km and also distance in 4
hours and 24 minutes.

6. If 1cm long line on a map represents a real length of 4m. Calculate the RF and draw a diagonal scale
long enough to measure up to 50m. Also draw a comparative scale to show chains, yards and feet and

7. Two oranges A and B on a tree are respectively at 1m and 2m above the ground and 0.3m and 1.5m
from a 0.3m thick compound wall but on opposite sides of the wall. The distance between the
oranges measured along the ground and parallel to the wall is 3m. Determine the true distance or
true length between the oranges

8. The front and top view of a straight line PQ measures 50mm and 65mm, respectively. The point P is
on the H.P. and 20mm in front of the V.P. The front view of the line is inclined at 45˚ to the reference
line. Determine the true length of line PQ and its true inclinations with the reference planes. Also,
locate the traces.

9. An 80mm long line PQ is inclined at 30˚ to the H.P. and 45˚ to the V.P. The end P is 15mm in front of
the V.P. and the end Q is 80mm above the H.P. Draw the projections of the line and determine the
distance of end P from the H.P. Also, locate its traces.

10. The distance between the end projectors of a line AB is 50mm. The end P is 50mm in front of the
V.P. and 25mm above the H.P. The end Q is 10mm in front of the V.P. and above the H.P. The line is
inclined at 30˚ to the V.P. Draw the projections of line PQ. Determine its true length and true
inclination with the H.P. Also, locate its traces.

11. A regular pentagon of 30mm sides is resting on HP, on one of its sides with its surface 45̊ inclined
to HP. Draw its projections when the side in HP makes 30̊ angle with VP.

12. A semi-circular plane of diameter 70mm has its straight edge on the VP and inclined at 30̊ to the
HP. Draw its projection when its surface is inclined at 45̊ to the VP.
