Floorball Unit MYP 2 and

3
This floorball unit focuses on the effectiveness of teamwork, emphasising the
importance of communication and interaction within the team. You will develop a
solid understanding of the rules, equipment, strategies, and techniques essential for
the game. The unit also highlights the significance of systems of play and how
players orient themselves in time and space, making strategic decisions that
contribute to overall team success. Through active participation, you will enhance
your ability to work cohesively as a team.

Over the next 6 weeks, you will complete a Personal Skill Development-
and Team Communication Log focused on improving 1 key floorball skill
of your choice. Additionally, you will pay attention to how you
communicate and interact with your teammates during gameplay,
reflecting on how these aspects contribute to the overall system of the
team. Each week, you will spend no more than 10 minutes per lesson
during class working on this log.

During the first two weeks, you will not be working on the
assignment. Instead, you'll focus on practicing floorball skills
through drills and game situations, as well as improving your
communication skills.

Assessment Criteria:

Criterion A: Knowing and understanding

The student:

i. outlines physical and health education factual, procedural and conceptual knowledge

ii. identifies physical and health education knowledge to describe issues and solve
problems set in familiar and unfamiliar situations

iii. applies physical and health terminology consistently to communicate understanding.

Criterion B: Planning for performance

The student:

i. identifies goals to enhance performance

ii. constructs a plan for improving physical activity and health.

Criterion C: Applying and performing

The student:

i. recalls and applies a range of skills and techniques

ii. recalls and applies a range of strategies and movement concepts

iii. recalls and applies information to perform effectively.


Criterion D: Reflecting and improving performance

The student:

i. identifies and demonstrates strategies to enhance interpersonal skills

ii. describes the effectiveness of a plan based on the outcome

iii. describes and summarizes performance.

Task Instructions:

Week 1: Selection, Goal Setting, and Team Communication


(Assessment Criteria: A - Knowing and Understanding)

 1 pnt Choose one floorball skill you want to improve Choose


from, dribbling, passing or shooting. Find technique document
in files
 3 pnts Write a short description of the skill and why you
chose it. Add visuals
 2 pnts Set a clear, achievable goal for how you want to
improve this skill by the end of the unit. Be specific (e.g., "I
want to improve my shooting accuracy from 50% to 70%").
 2 pnts Reflect on how you currently communicate with and
interact with your teammates during games. Set a goal for
how you want to improve this aspect as well (e.g., "I want to
give clear, supportive instructions during defensive plays").

Week 2: Planning Your Practice and Team Interaction


(Assessment Criteria: B - Planning)

 2pnts Write a brief plan on how you will practice your chosen
skill over the next 5 weeks.
 2pnts Include specific exercises or drills that you will focus on
during class time or at home. (4 different exercises)
 2pnts Set mini-goals for each week to track your progress.
 2pnts Consider how your practice will involve communication
and interaction with your teammates. Write down how you
plan to improve your communication during drills and games.

Week 3: Mid-Unit Check-In and Communication Reflection


(Assessment Criteria: A - Knowing and Understanding, D -
Reflecting)

 4 pnts Reflect on your progress so far with both your skill


and your team communication.
 2pnts Are you on track to meet your goals? Write down any
challenges you’ve encountered and how you plan to overcome
them.
 2pnts Observe how your communication and interaction with
teammates have impacted your practice sessions and
gameplay. Adjust your practice plan if needed to improve
these areas.

Week 4: Skill Application and Team Systems (Assessment Criteria:


A - Knowing and Understanding)

 2pnts Observe how well you are able to apply your chosen
skill during a game situation and how your communication
contributes to the overall team system.
 4 pnts Write a short reflection on what went well and
what still needs improvement.
 2pnts Consider the role of communication in team systems.
