Define teacher-centered learning and student-centered learning. Explain in


detail the key differences between teacher-centered and student-centered
learning approaches?

Teacher-centered and student-centered learning represent two contrasting educational


approaches, each with its own distinct characteristics and philosophies.

Teacher-Centered Learning
In teacher-centered learning, the teacher is the primary authority and source of
knowledge. This approach emphasizes a more traditional, lecture-based format where
teachers control the content, pace, and activities in the classroom. Students primarily
listen, take notes, and complete assignments as directed. The main role of the student
in this model is to absorb information provided by the teacher, who leads the learning
experience by presenting facts, organizing the material, and evaluating student
performance through tests and assignments.

Characteristics of Teacher-Centered Learning:
