Program Description
This Complete solar energy program is
designed to equip students with the
knowledge and skills needed to excel in
the solar energy industry. The curriculum
covers a wide range of topics, from the
basics of solar energy and photovoltaic
systems to advanced technologies and
grid integration. Students will gain
hands-on experience with solar tools, PV
components, and software like PVsyst,
while also exploring solar thermal
systems, energy storage, and
environmental impacts. The program
includes practical projects, internships,
and professional development activities
to ensure students are well-prepared for
a career in solar energy.
Learning Outcomes
• Understand the fundamental
principles and historical development
of solar energy.
• Design and analyze photovoltaic (PV)
systems, including their components.
• Apply electrical engineering principles
to create efficient solar energy
systems.
• Use PVsyst software to simulate and
optimize PV system designs.
• Integrate various energy storage
solutions with solar systems.
• Manage the integration of solar
systems with the electrical grid.
• Assess the environmental and social
impacts of solar energy projects.
• Develop professional skills and
industry readiness through
internships and certifications.
WSU
Semester 2 Examinations:
Written Exams:
Written exams will assess students on advanced topics such as solar system integration,
grid-tied and off-grid systems, and solar energy storage solutions.
Practical Exams:
Students will undertake practical exams to demonstrate their proficiency in advanced solar
energy system design, including the use of software for system simulation and performance
analysis.
Practical Assignments:
Students will complete ongoing practical assignments that require them to design and implement
complex solar energy projects, focusing on real-world applications.
Capstone Project:
The final assessment will be a comprehensive project where students apply their theoretical and
practical knowledge to design and implement a complete solar energy system. This project will
include a final presentation, technical report, and system performance analysis.
