11th Physics Tamil Nadu Syllabus - Class Notes

Physics Class Notes - 11th Standard

1. Physical World and Measurement

Key Points:

- Physics deals with the study of nature and natural phenomena.

- Physical quantities are classified into fundamental and derived quantities.

- SI units: Standardized system of measurement (e.g., meter, kilogram, second).

- Dimensional Analysis: Checking consistency of equations using dimensions.

Important Formulas:

- Speed = Distance / Time

- Density = Mass / Volume

2. Kinematics

Key Points:

- Study of motion without considering forces.

- Types of motion: Uniform and non-uniform.

- Equations of motion under constant acceleration:

- 1. v = u + at

- 2. s = ut + (1/2)at^2

- 3. v^2 = u^2 + 2as

Important Formulas:

- Displacement (s) = ut + (1/2)at^2

- Average Velocity = (u + v) / 2

3. Laws of Motion

Key Points:

- Newton's First Law: Law of Inertia.

- Newton's Second Law: F = ma.

- Newton's Third Law: Action = Reaction.

Important Formulas:

- Force (F) = Mass (m) x Acceleration (a)

- Momentum (p) = Mass (m) x Velocity (v)

4. Work, Energy, and Power

Key Points:

- Work is done when a force is applied and displacement occurs.

- Energy: Capacity to do work (Kinetic and Potential).

- Power: Rate of doing work.

Important Formulas:

- Work (W) = Force (F) x Displacement (d) x cos(theta)

- Kinetic Energy = (1/2)mv^2

- Potential Energy = mgh

- Power = Work / Time

5. Gravitation

Key Points:

- Newton's Law of Gravitation: F = G(m1*m2)/r^2.

- Acceleration due to gravity (g) decreases with altitude.

- Kepler's Laws of Planetary Motion.

Important Formulas:

- Gravitational Force (F) = G(m1*m2)/r^2

- g = GM/R^2
