SHELL MATERIAL SELECTION REPORT (Diesel Hydrotreater unit)

1.0 Corrosion Allowance(CA)

For columns, pressure vessels, heat exchanger channels and shells, a minimum of 3 mm CA is applied for CS and low alloy
steels and a minimum of 0.75mmCA for high alloys.
For the reactor and high pressure feed effluent exchanger, corrosion conditions are involved. With a life time of 20 years, a
more corrosion resistant material e.g. SS cladding shall be considered.
As a minimum, 1.0 mm CA will be applied for piping to reach a design life time of 15 years. For all CS piping that is dry(no free
water) during normal operation or where water is treated and corrosive, 1.0mm CA is selected. For piping in which free water is
present, in general 3mm CA is present.
