Introduction:
This document covers design drawing & estimation of residential building of Saikat Chkraborty. The structure
is modelled as 3D space frame in STAAD Pro software for estimating the force in the members support reactions
and design of members.Drawing made with the help of AutoCAD software. & estimation done on MS Excel

Brief Description of the Building:

Here we work on an existing residential building.We introduce two new room of size 162sqft & 156sqft.
There is a passage of walk of width 4ft.kitchen & dinning space will be decorate by client at the existing building.
Concrete stair is introduce besides bathroom of width 7ft which is upto roof.a small cantilever vadanda near
room 2 is there.

For construction pourpose few portion of existing structure will be dismalt for the help of new construction.

Consideration:
1. Grade of concrete Consider: 1:2:4 (Cement,sand & aggregates)
2. We calculate motor quantity of cement & sand ratio 1:6
3. Grade of steel Consider: Fe500 (TMT Bar,Recommended Tata TMT bar)
4. Live load conider: 3 Kn/m 2 (As per IS 875-2015,Part II)
5. Marbles & tiles load are considered in Dead load..
6. Moduler size of brick considered: 200x100x100 mm
7. All out side wall is 8inch & partision wall is 4 inch.
8. Fresh water will be used for concrete mix (As per IS 456)

Load Calculation:
Dead Load

Software will calculated the self weight of structure.

Thickness of slab considered: 100 mm

Thickness of floor finish: 50 mm
Slab weight: 0.1x25: 2.5 Kn/m 2 (Self weight of slab:25 kn/M 2 )
Floor finish weight: 0.05x24: 2.5 Kn/m 2 (Self weight of FF:24 kn/M 2 )

Live Load

Live load 3 kn/m2 is put on STAAD soft.

Wind Load

Basic wind speed at site(V b ): 47 m/s

Probablity factor(K 1 ): 1.0 (For 50 yr Period) (As per IS875:Part3,Table 1)
Terrin factor(K 2 ): 1.03 (For Terrin Cat. 1 & For Class B, 10m ht.)
(As per IS875:Part3,Table 2)
Topography factor(K 3 ): 1.0

Design Wind Speed (V z ): (47 X 1 X 1 X 1.03)= 48.41 m/s

(As per IS875:Part3,CL 5.3,for 10m ht.)

Design Wind Pressure(P a ): 0.6 X 48.41^2 = 1.41 kN/m 2

(As per IS875:Part3,CL 5.4,for 10m ht.)

Load on column: 1.41x2.133/2 1.51 kN/m (Max)

DESIGN OF ROOF SLAB :

RCC: M 25
Fe : 500
lx= 2050

ly = 4900 = 2.39 >2

lx 2050
SO ONE WAY SLAB

ly = 4900

SLAB THICKNESS D = 100 mm

d= 75 mm
b= 1000 mm

Unit wt. of concrete = 25 kN/m3

Load factor = 1.5

Design load, Bending Moment and Shear force

Dead load of the slab of 1 m width (0.125x25) = 2.5 kN/m

Live load = 0.75 kN/m

Dust load = 0.5 kN/m

Factored dead load = 3.75 kN/m

Factored live load = 1.875 kN/m

Total factored load = 5.625 kN/m

Maximum moments and shear are determined from the coefficients given in Table 12 and 13 of IS:456

maximum sup moment (4.6875x1.76)x1.76/10 = 1.576 kNm/m for dead load

maximum span moment (4.6875x1.76)x1.76/12 = 1.313 kNm/m for dead load

maximum sup moment (1.875x1.76)x1.76/9 = 0.876 kNm/m for live load not fixed
maximum span moment (1.875x1.76)x1.76/10 = 0.788 kNm/m for live load not fixed

maximum shear, Vu (4.6875x1.76x0.6) = 4.613 kN for dead load

maximum shear, Vu (1.875x1.76x0.6) = 2.30625 kN for live load not fixed

Reinforcement calculation

For sup Bending moment,

Mu/bd2 (2.097x106)/(1000x1002) = 0.436 N/mm2

so, area of steel required is minimum = 0.12% as per table 3 SP16

180 mm2/m at top

For span Bending moment,

Mu/bd2 (1.791x106)/(1000x1002) = 0.374 N/mm2

so, area of steel required is minimum = 0.12% as per table 3 SP16

180 mm2/m at bottom

Provide 8mm dia. @150mm c/c bothway

% steel provided = 0.4468 %

Check of the slab depth for shear

As per table 19 of IS456, Ƭc = 0.416 as per percentage of steel provided

Coefficient, k = 1.3 as per cl. 40.2.1.1 of IS:456
2
Now design shear strength, Ƭc x k = 0.5408 N/mm
2
Maximum shear stress Ƭc max = 3.1 N/mm table 20 IS:456
2
Nominal shear stress, Ƭv = Vu/bd = 0.092 N/mm cl. 40.1 IS:456

Since, Ƭv < Ƭc < Ƭc max Hence depth of the slab is OK

l/d = 1760/100 27.333333 < 20 hence ok for deflection
