Lab No. 1

Objective: To become familiar with the downloading and installation of Cisco Packet Tracer.

Step 1: Open Google and type Cisco Packet Tracer in the search bar. Click the version suitable for you
then the new tab will open.

Note: Internet connection is necessary to download the Cisco Packet Tracer.

Step 2: Click on the highlighted option and setup will start downloading.

Procedure of Installation of Cisco Packet Tracer

Step 1: After opening backup, Click On Next. Step 3: Set the destination where you want
to install the program. Click Next to
continue the process.

Step 2: Select I accept the agreement. Click on Step 4: Confirming the folder.
Next.

Step 5: Create an icon. Click on Next. Step 7: The Installation process begins.

Objective: To become familiar with the connecting two PCs in Cisco Packet Tracer.

Step 1: Open Cisco Packet Tracer. This is the interface of the application.

Step 3: Click on the highlighted area to configure the IP address.

Step 6: Click on the highlighted area in the bottom to connect these PCs via a wire. Select Copper
Crossover Wire.

Step 7: Click on the envelope object to transfer the packet of data between these two devices. Select
the PCs which will send and receive the data.

Step 8: Operation was successful now we will play it in real-time to see how data/message was
transferred.

Objective: To become familiar with the connecting multiple devices using hub in Cisco Packet
Tracer.

Step 1: Open Cisco Packet Tracer. This is the interface of the application.

Objective: To become familiar with the router configuration and opening router panel by
connecting multiple router with a PC.

Step 1: Click on the Wireless Devices in the bottom.

Step 2: Click on the highlighted option to select a router.

Step 3: Double click on the router to see its design.

Step 4: Now we will set a connection between router and PCs. We will select a Pc and connect it
with router by using a straight through wire and put it into routers Ethernet Port.

Step 5: Now we will set IP of router. Double click on router to open its settings.

Step 6: Now click on the Web Browser option.

Step 7: Now Enter the default IP address.

Step 8: After pressing enter No Display because we have not set it. Now we will configure every PC
by selecting DHCP then it takes IP/Default gateway.

Step 9: We will open Pcs settings and go to IP Configuration.

Step 10: We will select DHCP as shown below.

Step 11: Now if we go to the web browser option and enter IP and press enter it displays…..

Step 12: We will enter the password. By default, the username and password is admin.

Lab No.5

Objective: To become familiar with the difference between Static and DHCP IP.

Step 1: Click on the Switches. Select the highlighted switch and paste it.

Without settings the switch will act as non-manageable means it will only connect pcs.

Step 4: Now we will give IP to these Pcs to send data from one place to another.

Step 5: We will give IP to every PC in the same manner. Without IP the Pc will not recognize any
network.

The Problem is if we have 50 to 100 computers then we have to assign IP to each and every
computer then it will be time taking process.

Step 6: The solution is we will make IP Dynamic. For this we will need DHCP Server/DHCP Service.

Routers/wireless devices have quality that it gives details of the device.

Its DHCP Server is Enabled.

It will distribute IPs to the no of devices we will assign it to.

Step 7: For suppose we are limiting it to distribute/share to two devices only. We will save the
settings.

Hence proved Dynamic IP system is much better than Static.

Objective: To set a Wi-Fi Routers to apply Wi-Fi settings

Step 1: Pick a WiFi router. open its panel. Configure the router.

Step 2: Pick a PC to set up a connection.

Objective: To become familiar with the changing password of the Wi-Fi Routers.

Scenario:

- 2 buildings 1 router
- In building 1 your PC is connected
- In building 2 your cousins PC is connected

Step 1: We will pick a router and 2 pcs and Step 2: We will change IP setting of

Objective: To become familiar with the creating a Home Network On Simple Wireless router by
connecting wire and wireless connectivity.

Scenario:

- 3 different buildings
- 3 different computers
- Home network

Step 1: Click on the Wireless devices. Select 3 routers and paste 3 Pcs as well.

Step 2: Now we will configure these routers and disable the DHCP server of Router 2 and Router 3
because Router1 will distribute IPs.
