Introduction:

structure of the research, including the selection of methods, procedures, and techniques for data collection, analysis, and interpretation. A well-designed
research study is essential for ensuring the validity, reliability, and generalizability of research findings.
Nature:
The nature of research design is characterized by its systematic and methodical approach to inquiry. It involves careful consideration of research objectives,
hypotheses, variables, and ethical considerations to formulate an appropriate plan for conducting the study. Research design integrates various components, such
as sampling, data collection, measurement, and analysis, into a coherent framework that aligns with the research goals and addresses research questions
effectively.
Types:
Research design can take different forms depending on the nature of the research inquiry and the objectives of the study. Common types of research design
include:
1. Experimental Design: Involves manipulating one or more independent variables to observe their effects on dependent variables under controlled conditions.
2. Quasi-Experimental Design: Resembles experimental design but lacks random assignment of participants to experimental conditions, making causal
inferences less robust.
3. Descriptive Design: Focuses on describing characteristics, behaviors, or phenomena without manipulating variables or establishing causal relationships.
4. Correlational Design: Examines the relationships between variables to assess the strength and direction of associations without implying causation.
5. Exploratory Design: Aims to explore new research areas, generate hypotheses, or identify research questions for further investigation.

Meaning:
Sample design refers to the process of selecting a subset of individuals or elements from a larger population for study. It involves determining the size,
composition, and characteristics of the sample to ensure its representativeness and adequacy for addressing research objectives and hypotheses. Sample design is
crucial for minimizing sampling bias, maximizing precision, and enhancing the generalizability of research findings.
Steps:
The steps involved in sample design typically include:
1. Define the Population: Identify the target population or group of interest that the research aims to study.
2. Determine Sampling Frame: Create a list or database of all eligible individuals or units within the population from which the sample will be drawn.
3. Select Sampling Method: Choose an appropriate sampling method based on the research objectives, population characteristics, and resource constraints.
Common sampling methods include probability sampling (e.g., simple random sampling, stratified sampling, cluster sampling) and non-probability sampling
(e.g., convenience sampling, purposive sampling, snowball sampling).
4. Calculate Sample Size: Determine the appropriate sample size needed to achieve desired levels of statistical power, precision, and confidence interval. Sample

Probability sampling methods involve the selection of sample units based on the principles of random selection and known probabilities of inclusion. Each
member of the population has a known and nonzero chance of being selected in the sample. Common probability sampling methods include:
- Simple Random Sampling: Each member of the population has an equal chance of being selected.
- Stratified Sampling: The population is divided into homogeneous strata, and samples are selected from each stratum proportionally.
- Cluster Sampling: The population is divided into clusters or groups, and clusters are randomly selected for sampling.

Probability sampling designs are preferred when the goal is to generalize findings to the larger population with known probabilities of selection, whereas non-
probability sampling designs are used when logistical constraints or specific research objectives necessitate a more flexible or purposive approach to sample
selection.
Various statistical methods and formulas can be used to determine sample size, including:
- Margin of Error Approach: Based on the desired margin of error and confidence level, the sample size can be calculated using formulas specific to the type of
statistic being estimated (e.g., mean, proportion).
- Power Analysis: Used to determine the minimum sample size required to achieve a specified level of statistical power for detecting a given effect size or
difference.

1. **Nominal Scale:** The nominal scale is the simplest level of measurement, where variables are categorized into distinct categories or groups with no
inherent order or hierarchy. Nominal scales are used to classify qualitative attributes or characteristics that cannot be quantified numerically. Examples include
gender (male, female), marital status (single, married, divorced), and types of products (A, B, C).
2. **Ordinal Scale:** The ordinal scale ranks variables or responses in a specific order or sequence based on relative magnitude or preference. While ordinal
scales indicate the order of attributes, they do not imply equal intervals between categories. Participants are asked to rank or rate items based on their perceived
differences or preferences. Examples include Likert scales (strongly agree, agree, neutral, disagree, strongly disagree), ranking scales (1st, 2nd, 3rd), and rating
scales (poor, fair, good, excellent).
3. **Interval Scale:** The interval scale assigns numerical values to variables or responses with equal intervals between adjacent categories, but with no true
zero point. Interval scales allow for comparisons of magnitude and equal intervals between values but do not support meaningful ratios or absolute differences.
Examples include temperature measured in Celsius or Fahrenheit, IQ scores, and Likert scales with numerical ratings (1 to 5).
4. **Ratio Scale:** The ratio scale is the most sophisticated level of measurement, featuring equal intervals between values and a true zero point, allowing for
meaningful ratios and comparisons. Ratio scales support arithmetic operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Examples include age,
income, weight, height, and time measured in seconds or minutes.
Each scaling technique offers advantages and limitations depending on the research objectives, measurement properties, and statistical requirements of the study.
Researchers should select an appropriate scaling technique that aligns with the characteristics of the variables being measured and the level of measurement
precision required for the research analysis.

Concept:
- Primary Data: Primary data are firsthand information gathered through methods such as surveys, interviews, observations, or experiments. Researchers
collect primary data to address specific research questions, tailor data collection instruments to their research objectives, and ensure data relevance and accuracy.
- Secondary Data: Secondary data are preexisting data obtained from sources such as published literature, government reports, databases, or organizational
records. Researchers use secondary data to supplement primary data, provide context or background information, or validate research findings obtained through
primary data collection.

- Primary Data Sources: Primary data sources include individuals, organizations, or entities from whom researchers directly collect data for a specific research
study. Primary data sources may include survey respondents, interview participants, experimental subjects, or observational sites.
- Secondary Data Sources: Secondary data sources comprise existing data collected by others for purposes other than the current research study. Secondary
data sources may include published literature, government reports, academic journals, databases, organizational records, or archival sources.
Classification:
- Primary Data Classification: Primary data can be classified based on the methods of data collection, such as surveys, interviews, observations, or
experiments. Primary data can also be classified based on the nature of the variables measured, including quantitative (numeric) data and qualitative (non-
numeric) data.
- Secondary Data Classification: Secondary data can be classified based on the original source or producer of the data, such as government agencies, research
institutions, commercial organizations, or academic researchers. Secondary data can also be classified based on the format or medium of the data, including
textual documents, numerical databases, audiovisual recordings, or digital archives.
