ELECTRIC AIR HEATER (REH)

RABIE Electric Air Heaters type REH have been developed to reheat air in ventilation
systems. The air heaters are suitable for installation in circular (REH-C), rectangular or
square (REH-R) ducts.
The heater units are custom sized to fit any duct or to be built-in a terminal unit.
Casing and control box are made of heavy galvanized steel sheet as standard and op-
tionally can be made of aluminum or stainless steel. Heating elements are made either
from stainless tubes or high grade resistance wire.

Control Panel: On/Off Control

Enclosure Type The control panel of an ON/OFF electric
IP10 (NEMA 1) enclosures constructed for heater, whether single or multiple stages,
indoor use to provide a degree of includes the following components:
protection to personnel against incidental • Overload / short circuit protection
contact with the enclosed equipment and device
to provide a degree of protection against
• Transformer and control fuse
falling dirt
• Automatic reset thermal cut-out
Control Principle: • Manual reset thermal cut-out
The heater can be operated as stand- • Airflow switch
alone control or to be compatible with
BMS. Controller should operate it as ON/ • Contactor (s)
OFF or modulating control. • Room thermostat
• Disconnect switch / Pilot light
(optional)

Proportional Control (Modulating)

The control panel of a proportional electric heater includes the following components:
• Overload / short circuit protection device
• Transformer and control fuse
• Automatic reset thermal cut-out
• Manual reset thermal cut-out
• Airflow switch
• Contactor (s)
• Room thermostat
• PWM control / SSR (Solid State Relay)
• Disconnect switch / Pilot light (optional)
Mechanical Construction:
Slip In Type
The slip-in type electric heaters are designed so
that the entire frame can be inserted into the duct.
Advantages of slip-in electric heaters:
A system using a slip-in heater permits the
installation of the entire ventilation duct system
before the heaters become available.
Retrofits are much simpler, smaller dimension slip
-in heaters require no extra supports.
Installation:
Allow for a proper sized opening on one side of the duct, as well as installation
clearances to avoid any obstructions around the duct. Rabie slip-in heater has a
standard 25mm flange on each side of the control box and can be attached directly to
the duct with sheet metal screws.

Flanged Type
Flanged heaters are designed so that the heater is
an integral part of the duct work. The heater frame
is attached to matching duct flanges. Standard
flange 25mm on the heater frame are used to
attach it to the duct. Flanged heater dimensions
match the dimensions of the duct.
Installation:
Rabie Flanged electric heater comes with 25mm
standard flanges installed around the frame and on
each side of the control box. It can be attached
directly onto the duct with sheet metal screws.

Round Collar Type

Round collar electric heaters are available for
installation on round duct systems with a standard
diameter of 150mm to 600mm. They are provided with
one male and one female adapter for ease of
installation.
Installation:
Rabie round collar electric heater comes with a 25mm
extension on each side of the frame. The heater is attached directly onto the duct using
sheet metal screws.

Heating Elements:

Open Coil Elements (Standard)

We use resistance heating wire made of a ferritic
iron-chromium-aluminum alloy (FeCrAl alloy) for
use at temperatures up to 1400°C (2550°F). The
alloy is characterized by high resistivity and
very good oxidation resistance.

Standard Tubular Elements (Optional)

Tubular elements are made of Incoloy 800 (Nickel

alloy) tube with a diameter of 3/8" (9.5mm)
containing a heating coil in magnesium oxide
powder. Connections are made with two terminals.
The U or W shape of the tubular elements is
determined by the heater dimensions.

Finned Tubular Elements (Optional)

Finned tubular elements are made of Incoloy 800
(Nickel alloy) tube with a diameter of 3/8" (9.5mm)
containing a heating coil in magnesium oxide
powder. The tube is equipped with aluminum fins
to allow for more efficient heat dissipation.
Attachments are made with two terminals. The U
or W shape of the tubular elements is determined
by the heater dimensions.
