Behaviour of People in Organisations, Organisational structures and change. Functions and activities of Human Resource Management. Financial Management, Investment decisions, Key marketing concepts, Engineering and the legal aspects, Entrepreneurship and Management of Technological Innovation. 1. To provide concepts of engineering management. 2. To explain human resource management, leadership and motivation. 3. To develop basic understanding of financial management, entrepreneurship and legal aspects. 4. To introduce Islamic aspects of management and finance After studying this course, the student would be able to: 1. Apply the contemporary concepts of engineering management in work place. 2. Comprehend the organizational structures and human resource requirements 3. Understand the investment analysis techniques, financial statement and Islamic banking practices.

Management from Islamic Perspective: Islamic business philosophy, Islamic business ethics, resolution of conflicts. Behaviour of People in Organisations: Personality and motivation, Job design and work behaviour, Power and influence, Leadership, Group dynamics, Decision making, Delegation. Organisation: Organisational structures, Organisational change, Human Resource Management (HRM): Functions and activities of HRM, HRMs importance and trend, Centralisation vs decentralisation. Financial Management: Financial accounts, Balance sheet, P & L accounts, Cash flow, Depreciation, Inflation, Profitability, Management ratios, Islamic banking: Mudaraba, Musharaka and Murabaha Investments Decisions: Introduction, Types of investment, Break-even Analysis, Payback period, Rate of return, Principle of discounting, Net present value, Shariah compliance in investment. Marketing: Key marketing concepts, Marketing mix, Market segmentation, Product life cycle, The pricing element, Developing customer relationships. Branding, Legal considerations: Intellectual property patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. Risk management: insurance and takaful. Entrepreneurship and Management of Technological Innovation: Introduction, What, who and why of technological innovation and entrepreneurship, Patterns of innovation and commercialization.
