Contingency Plan On Class Suspension2
Department of Education
Region I
SCHOOLS DIVISION OFFICE I PANGASINAN
SALAVANTE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
SALAVANTE, URBIZTONDO, PANGASINAN
I. Rationale
Schools need an adequate number of days and hours for instruction and well-
trained teachers to deliver quality lessons so that learner engagement and learning
is maximized. According to DepEd Order No. 9, 2005, "Instituting Measures to
Increase Engaged Time-on-Task and Ensuring Compliance Therewith," the required
number of school days in each school year and the time allotted for the various
subjects in each school day will be met by reducing activities that take teachers
and/or learners away from the classroom, maximizing the use of the time allotted
for each subject, and reducing teachers' non-teaching duties.
This Contingency Plan shall be observed within the school by learners and
teaching personnel. Its purpose is to compensate for the automatic cancellation of
in-person and work-from-school sessions. Extended class hours will be used for
make-up classes from ______________, 2024 to ______________, 2024 or until the
necessary number of lost school hours is reached.
To guarantee that learning competencies and objectives are still met in the event
of class suspension or cancellation, grade-level-specific performance tasks, projects,
modular distance learning, or make-up classes must be used. Following the
guidelines in DepEd Order No. 14, s. 2021, learners who missed classes because of
various disruptions like disasters and/ or emergencies due to natural or human-
induced hazards shall be accorded due consideration in their attendance and the
completion of their learning tasks.
The School Governance and Operations Division through the Social Mobilization
and Networking Unit - Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (SGOD-SMN-DRRM)
shall continue to take charge in putting the current systems for tracking and
reporting class suspensions and resumption of classes. Similarly, the Curriculum
Implementation Division (CID), through the Public Schools District Supervisors, will
continue to take the lead in monitoring, reporting, and responding to any necessary
modifications to learning delivery modes brought on by suspensions.
