Greetings
(Warm Greetings)
Checking of Attendance
(Class monitor will report the attendees for the day)
Classroom Routines
(Student be reminded of the classroom rules, sitting arrangement and others)
Math Drills
(Student will be given a drill for three minutes)
2. Motivation
Fill In the Blank: Using the paste words on the board, the student must complete the
statement by filling the missing word in the sentence.
3.
1. Presentation/Introduction
(relating to previous lesson and explaining the importance of the lesson)
2. Modelling (I DO)
1. EXTERIOR ANGLE INEQUALITY THEOREM - The measure of an exterior angle of a
triangle is greater than the measure of either of the two remote interior angles.
EXAMPLE 1
∠ a Is the exterior angle and ∠ c and ∠ d are its remote interior angle, and
SOLUTION:
2. TRIANGLE INEQUALITY THEOREM - In any triangle, the sum of the lengths of any two
of its sides is greater than the length of its third side.
EXAMPLE
A triangle has two sides that are 6 cm and 15 cm in lengths, respectively. Unoh says
that the third side could be 9 cm. Vhinz says that it could not be 9 cm but it could be 7
cm. Who is correct and why?
6+5=21>9
6+ 9=15>15
9+15=24> 6
EASTERN BACOOR NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL
SY 2023-2024
6+5=21>7
6+7=13>15
15+7=22>6
Hence, 6cm, 7cm, 15cm cannot be length of the sides of triangle.
THE HINGE THEOREM
If two sides of a triangle are congruent to two sides of a second triangle, and the
included angle of the first triangle has a greater measure than the included angle of the
second triangle, then the third side of the first triangle is longer than the third side of
the second triangle.
EXAMPLE
Based on the above figure, which car is farther away from the mall?
CONVERSE OF HINGE THEOREM (SSS Inequality) - If two sides of one triangle are
congruent to two sides of a second triangle, and the included angle in the first triangle is
greater than the included angle in the second, then the third side of the first triangle is
longer than the third side of the second
2. Guided Practice
Directions: Study the illustration and answer the questions that follow:
1. In the illustration, which angle between 𝑥 and 𝑦 has a greater measure? Support
Questions
your answer.
2. 2. What theorem/s is/are applied in the situation?

3. ASSIGNMENT/AGREEMENT
Time’s Up! One of the real-life applications of Hinge Theorem is seen in clocks. In the illustration
below, each clock displays different time. Directions: Observe each clock and answer the questions
that follow.
EASTERN BACOOR NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL
SY 2023-2024
1. Do the lengths of the hands of the clock change as the time (hour) changes?
2. What do you observe about the measures of the angles formed by the hands of the clock at
different hours?
3. What affects the measure of the distance between the tips of the hands of the clock? Explain.

5. Generalization
In writing proofs for inequalities in a triangle or in two triangles, it is important to
justify each logical step with a reason. You can use symbols and abbreviations, but they
must be clear enough so that they can be understood easily. You can use paragraph form,
two-column form, or flow chart form.
