Group assignment on the course Introduction to Management for 3rd year Economics students.

Guidelines of the assignment:


 Students are required to make active participation on group work.
 Evaluation is both individual and group based:
 Individual evaluation is based on his/her presentation and participation in the class.
 Group evaluation is based on the group's overall coordination, presentation and written summary.
 Submitting the work of group prior to the exam date may provide an extra advantage.

1. What is control, and why is it important? Describe the three steps in the control process.
2. Explain how organizational and employee performance are measured and describe tools used to
measure organizational performance.
3. What is communication and how can a manager ensure proper communication exists in the
organization?
4. What are barriers to communication? What can managers do to reduce the chances of barriers to
communication from occurring?
5. What is the main difference between trait and behavioral leadership theories on the one hand, and
contingency theories of leadership on the other?
6. Define leader and leadership? Describe the three major contingency theories of leadership.
7. What is motivation? Compare and contrast early as well as contemporary theories of motivation.
