Explain the modified Goodman diagram for bending stresses.
The components which are subjected to fluctuating stresses are designed
by constructing the modified Goodman's diagram.
The problems are classified into two groups.
1 Components subjected to axial (or) bending stresses due to fluctuating
force (or) bending moment.

Components subjected to fluctuating torsional shear stresses.

Separate diagrams are used in these two cases.
