PLANNING INFORMATION

1. REASON

Several in-service incidents were reported to AH concerning degradation of the

intermediate tail drive shafts support on the H130 equipped with a new tail boom post
ECP 079809 featuring a new tail drive shaft assembly with a single bearing. The
damage consists of loose/failed rivets on the bearing support, in some limited cases
occurrence of cracks in the supporting structure and occasional wear of the splines in
the connection between the two drive shafts. AH had initiated extensive investigations
and identified the root cause of these events. As a corrective measure, the main
objective of this ALERT SERVICE BULLETIN is to:
– Install the sliding flange with Torlon bushes that bring a centering function for the
splines, decoupling centering and torque transfer. This modification includes:
– Addition of two Torlon bushes on each side of the sliding flange
– Modification of the splined sleeve tolerance
– Increase of the tightening torque of the bearing's nut.
The technical data or instructions contained in this ALERT SERVICE BULLETIN refer
to the ECP EC07.90004.

2. DESCRIPTION

This ALERT SERVICE BULLETIN provides the instructions to replace the sliding flange
and the equipped splined sleeve.
