Microsoft Excel

Excel is a spreadsheet program from Microsoft and a component of its


Office product group for business applications. Microsoft Excel enables users to
format, organize and calculate data in a spreadsheet. By organizing data using
Excel, it helps the viewer understand the data easier.
The goal of Excel: Excel’s goal is to organize, calculate and analyze your data in a
way to help the user/viewer understand the information better, this is done by
various methods of calculations available in the excel program. Excel is widely
used in businesses to track and get an overall information sheet about a topic
within the business such as employee salary, company spending and profits.
Features of Excel: Excel has a lot of features that are made to solve certain
problems of show certain data, the program is made up of cells which is aligned in
columns and rows with A-Z text for columns and numbers for rows. There are 7
main features of Excel.
Home
-This is where you find options of font sizes, font styles, font color’s,
background colors, alignment, formatting options, insertions and cell options.
Insert
-Insert tab is comprised of options of the table format and style, for inserting
images, adding graphs, charts and header or footer options.
Page Layout
-This tab is for customizing the themes, orientations and page setup.
Formulas
-The formulas tab contains different frequently used formulas so tables with
a large amount of data can be solved easily with quick solutions.
Data
-For adding external data, filtering data and other data related tools.
Review
-A tab for proofreading an excel sheet and making sure all spelling and data
is correct and a reader can also add comments through this tab.
View
-Different views in which the sheet can be displayed such as zooming in and
out and pane arrangement is also available.

Data
Data is what excel is made to deal with, by using excel to store, sort and
filter data we can easily adjust or manipulate it by using different Excel formulas
such as finding an average number by using the average formula, using LOOKUP
formula to find specific data you’re looking for.
Using Excel for managing data has it benefits, for example, since Excel has
no limit to the amount of data that can be stored it makes it easy to store and
recover data which can also be secured by passwords. Another benefit is that data
is abled to be stored in one place instead of different files and registers. Lastly
Excel presents the data to us in a neat and clean visibility making it more easy,
readable and understandable to the reader.
