1. This question paper contains 38 questions. All questions are compulsory.
2. This question paper has 5 Sections- A, B, C, D, and E.
3. In Section A, questions number 1 to 18 are multiple choice questions
(MCQs) and questions number 19 and 20 are Assertion -Reason based
questions of 1 mark each.
4. In Section B, questions number 21 to 25 are very short answer (VSA) type
questions, carrying 2 marks each.
5. In Section C, questions number 26 to 31 are short answer (SA) type
questions, carrying 3 marks each.
6. In Section D, questions number 32 to 35 are long answer (LA) type
questions carrying 5 marks each.
7. In Section E, questions number 36 to 38 are case study- based questions
carrying 4 marks each.

23. A part of monthly hostel charges in a college hostel are fixed and the remaining 2
depends on the number of days one has taken food in the mess. When a student 𝐴
takes food for 25 days, he has to pay ₹ 4,500, whereas a student 𝐵 who takes food for
30 days, has to pay ₹5,200. Find the fixed charge per month and the cost of food per
day.

24. Find two consecutive positive integers whose sum of squares is 113. 2

25. Find the value of k such that the polynomial 3𝑥 2 + 2𝑘𝑥 + 𝑥 − 𝑘 − 5, has the sum of 2
zeroes equal to half of their product.

Section-C

This section comprises short answer (SA) type questions of 3 marks each.

26. Prove that √3 is an irrational number. 3

27. Find the zeroes of the polynomial 𝑝(𝑥) = 6𝑥 2 − 7𝑥 + 2 and verify the relationship 3
between its coefficients and zeroes.

28. Five years hence, the age of Ravi will be three times that of his son. Five years ago, 3
Ravi’s age was seven times that of his son. What are their present ages?

29. If 𝑐𝑜𝑠𝑒𝑐 (𝐴 − 𝐵) = 2, cot (𝐴 + 𝐵) = 1

This section comprises long answer (LA) type questions of 5 marks each.

32. Solve the following pair of linear equations graphically. Also write the coordinates of 5
the triangular region formed by these lines with the x-axis and find its area.

2x + y = 6 and 2x – y + 2 = 0.

34. A train travels 180 km at a uniform speed. If the speed had been 9 km/hour more, it 5
would have taken 1 hour less for the same journey. Find the speed of the train.

35. From the top of tower 100 m high, a man observes two cars on the opposite side of 5
tower with angles of depression 300 and 450 respectively. Find the distance between
the cars. (Use √3=1.73)
Section-E

This section comprises 3 case study-based questions of 4 marks each.

36. Case study-1: A cottage industry produces a certain


number of toys in a day. It was observed on a particular
day that the cost of production of each toy (in rupees)
was 3 more than twice the number of toys produced on
that day. The total cost of production on that day was ₹ 27.

Based on the above information, answer the following questions:

(a) Taking 𝑥 as the number of toys produced on that day, write the cost of 1
production of each toy in terms of 𝑥.

(b) Form a quadratic equation representing the given situation. 1


(c) Determine the cost of production of each toy. 2

37. Case study-2: An observer on the ground estimates the


angle of elevation to the basket of a hot air balloon to be
60°, while another observer standing on the same side,
away from the first observer, estimates the angle of
elevation to be 30°. The height of the basket from the
ground is 50√3 𝑚.

Based on the above information, answer the following questions:

(a) Draw a neat labelled figure representing the above situation. 1

(b) Find the distance of the basket from the first observer’s eye. 1

(c) Find the distance between the observers. 2

38. Case study-3: The table given shows the number of


students in the school choir. The choir teacher plans
to arrange the students in equal rows. Only girls or
boys will be in each row.

Based on the above information, answer the following


questions:

(a) What is the greatest number of students that could be in each row?

(b) How many rows will be required for this arrangement. 1

(c) Find LCM (480, 640). 1
