of an ac generator . Write the expression for the e.m.f generated in the
coil in terms of speed rotation . Can the current produced by an ac
generator be measured with a moving coil galvanometer?
36. (a)With the help of a diagram , explain the principles and working of a 5
moving coil galvanometer.
(b)What is importance of a radial magnetic field and how is it
produced?

Define relaxation time of the free electrons drifting in a conductor .
How is it related to the drift velocity of free electrons ? Use this relation
to deduce the expression for the electrical resistivity of the material.
37. (a)An electric dipole is held in a uniform electric field .(i)Using suitable 5
diagram show that it does not undergo any translatory motion , and
(ii)derive an expression for torque acting on it and specify its direction.
(b)Derive an expression for the work done in rotating an electric dipole
in a uniform electric field.

(a)Define electric flux. Write its SI unit.
(b)Using Gauss’s law, prove that electric field at a point due to a
uniformly charged infinite plane sheet is independent of the distance
from it.
(c)How is the field directed if (i)the sheet is positively charged ,
(ii)negatively charged?
