The 26/11 Mumbai attacks were a series of coordinated terrorist attacks that

patients.
 They ambushed and killed several police officers, including ATS Chief
Hemant Karkare, Vijay Salaskar, and Ashok Kamte.
 Later, Kasab was captured alive after a fierce gunfight, becoming a critical
source of intelligence.

Hostage Crisis and Rescue Operations

 Over 300 hostages were rescued during the NSG-led operations at the
Taj, Oberoi, and Nariman House.
 Commandos faced challenges due to unfamiliar layouts and booby traps
set by the attackers.

Aftermath
1. Ajmal Kasab's Trial:
o Kasab was interrogated and revealed the role of LeT.
o Convicted in 2010, he was executed in 2012.
2. Strained India-Pakistan Relations:
o Evidence showed the involvement of Pakistan-based elements,
leading to international pressure on Pakistan.
3. Improved Security Measures:
o India revamped its counter-terrorism strategy, forming the
National Investigation Agency (NIA) and strengthening coastal
security.
The attacks remain one of the darkest chapters in Indian history, symbolizing
resilience in the face of terror.
