2. In a floral design made from tiles each of dimensions 8cm by


8cm , find the ratios of:

(a) the perimeter of shaded portion to the perimeter of the


whole design.

(b) the area of the shaded portion to the area of the


unshaded portion.
3. Ramesh deposited ₹ 2050 in a bank and in the month of
January he withdrew ₹410 from his account on the last date of
the month to donate food to an orphan age.. Find the ratio of
(a) Money withdrawn to the total money deposited.
(b) Money withdrawn to the remaining amount in the
bank.
(c) How would you show empathy towards poor people or
orphans?

Assertion and reasoning

1. Assertion: 16:24 :: 20:30 are in proportion.

Reason : If a, b, c, d are in proportion, then a: c = b : d.

2. Assertion : The ratio 3 : 2 is same as 2 : 3.

Reason : The order in which quantities are taken to express their ratio is
important and should be equal.

3. Assertion : The ratio 10 : 3 is written as 10/3

Reason : A ratio is treated as fraction.
