For the head, capacity, speed, motor voltage/current and other major specifications of your pump, see the
nameplate. The standard specifications are given in the tables below.
This manual uses the International System of Units (SI) for pressure indication, and values in { } are for
reference.
*1 Clear water, industrial water, and well water at a water temperature of 0 to 100 ℃ with a pH of 5.8 to
8.6 and a chloride ion concentration of 200 mg/L or below.
*2 The total suction head indicates the pump performance that should be achieved at the water
temperature of 20 ℃. If the water temperature for actual pump operation is not 20 ℃, the suction
performance of the pump, particularly those handling hot water, will be reduced
*3 The mode of FCD400 pump : 100 × 65FS2KCH,150 × 100FS2KCH,150 × 100FS4NCH,200 ×

*4 Voltage and frequency fluctuations should be within ± 5 % and ± 2%, respectively. Total of their
simultaneous fluctuations should be within 5 % on an absolute scale. In either case, the motor
characteristics and the temperature rise are not in accordance with the rated level.
Please use the anchor bolts to firmly fix the pump. In case
of pump toppling, there will be injury danger. In addition, it
may lead to pipe damage danger due to pump vibration.
Please move the product cautiously according to the lifting
method (nameplate). Otherwise, there is the danger of
Warning drop and injury.
Do not pour water on the motor. Otherwise, it may cause
electric shock, electric leakage, fire and trouble.
Handling and construction of a pump should work safely in
consideration of mass or shape. Otherwise, there is the
danger of fall and injury.
When the motor insulation-resistance test upon
installation, please remove the wires from the control
panel, and use the insulation-resistance meter matching
the power voltage to measure the insulation resistance.
Wiring can be done after confirming that the resistance
between the motor lead wire and the ground exceeds
1MΩ. Otherwise, it may cause electric shock and fire due
to motor burning.
Never cover the motor with blanket and cloth. Sometimes,
fire may occur due to overheating.
Caution When the water in pumps, such as a winter season, may
be a freeze, prevent a freeze by keeping warm, heater
attachment, drainage, etc. If the water is frozen while the
pump is stopped, such frozen water could break the
pump.
Since the coolant, rubber mold release and foreign objects
may be mixed in the medium during production, please
arrange proper filter at the outlet side according to
different devices and purposes, and conduct adequate
cleaning, and use the product after confirming no foreign
objects.
1. Installation location
Don’t install it outside or at places with moisture.
Otherwise, electric shock, current leakage or fire due to
insulation degradation may occur.
Please consider the machine life. Place the pump with
good ventilation, without dust, corrosive and explosive
gases, salt, moisture, steam, condensation, wind and rain
and no direct sunshine. Under bad environment, it may
Warning cause current leakage, electric shock or fire due to
insulation.
Install the pump in the locked pump room or equipment
room. When it is placed outside, please arrange the fence
and cover to avoid easy touch by the third person. If the
rotating or high-temperature part is touched, unimaginable
injury may happen.
2. Piping

operated in automatic mode, the pump is
operated for pumping to a pressure tank, and multiple pumps are operated in parallel.
The check valve should be installed between the pump and the discharge valve.
(4) Attach an air vent valve at a point where air is inevitably entrapped. Do not attach the valve
at a point where negative pressure is generated due to the suction piping, if installed at such
point the valve would suck air.
(5) If there is a risk that water hammering occurs, take Table 1

3. Centering
After the couplings are aligned, please install the coupling
Warning guard. In addition, during pump operation; don’t be close
to the rotating parts to prevent damage.
Centering of the pump is properly performed at factory before transportation, but the base is twisted
along a floor when anchor bolts are fixed during installation. As a result, the center of a pump shaft
and a motor shaft causes a misalignment.
When the pump is operated with which the pump shaft and the motor shaft had a misalignment, it
will become causes, such as vibration, noise, and unusual wear of bearing.
Please be sure to perform centering adjustment according to the following at the installation.

2. Operation
(1) Close the discharge valve after pump priming. For the pouring and boosting type, fully open
the suction valve.
(2) Turn on and off the switch a couple of times to check that the rotation direction (right-hand
rotation in the view from the motor fan side) and the operation condition are normal.
Please confirm the pump rotation direction. In case of three-phase power
Note supply and inverse operation, please change the connection and
conduct right rotation direction.
(3) When the rotational speed reaches the specified level, gradually open the discharge valve for
continuous operation.
(4) Check the pressure, current, vibration, and noise (for other parameters, see 6 Maintenance).
The valves for the pressure gauge and the compound gauge should remain closed except
when used for measurements. Left open, they could be damaged.
(5) When there is no check valve installed at the discharge side, stop the operation by gradually
closing the discharge valve and then stopping the motor.
(6) In second and subsequent operations, the pump can be immediately started provided that
there is no abnormality observed with reference to 6 Maintenance.
Avoid the operation under cavitation. In case of operation under too large
quantity, it may sometimes cause cavitation. When vibration or noise
Note happens, or specified quantity (pressure) cannot be out, it must be
cavitation. So, slowly close the discharge valve and operatetion flow rate
is reduced.
Don't operate when the air mixed in the handled liquid cannot be
Note discharged. It may cause the damage of pump bearing or shaft seal, or
not to pump up.
(1) Align and push packing pieces into the packing box, one by one. Position the packing joints
differently, changing the angle in 90 to 120 degrees, so that the joint of the last piece faces
down.
(2) Tighten the gland packing.
(a) Tighten the gland bolt nuts with fingers to the extent that the shaft is hard to be rotated by
hand.
(b) Tighten the nuts alternately to avoid uneven tightening.
(3) Adjust the gland packing.
(a) During the early phase of operation, have a relatively high leakage rate (Table 2) and pay
attention to heat and noise. Continue this break-in operation for 10 to 30 minutes.
(b) Be sure not to let the leakage rate decrease to 0 mL/min. When the leakage rate is too low,
the sliding surfaces may wear out, making leakage rate adjustment difficult.
(c) After the break-in operation, retighten the gland bolt nuts alternately to avoid uneven
tightening until the proper leakage rate is stably achieved. Then, start continuous
operation.
Specifications of the leakage rate (guideline) are shown in Table 1.
The shaft diameters above correspond to those for the gland packing described in the
consumable parts dimension list ( 7 Maintenance) (For example, the shaft diameter is 15
mm for 15×27×6 – 3 pieces).
(d) To reduce the leakage rate, quick retightening may generate heat. Gradually retighten the
nuts at intervals of 10 to 30 minutes.
If the pump is to be out of use, turn off the power. If the power is
left on and insulation deteriorates, electric shock, electrical
leakage or fire could result.
After the couplings are aligned, please install the coupling guard.
In addition, during pump operation; don’t be close to the rotating
parts to prevent damage.
During pump operation, don’t touch the shaft, coupling and other
rotating parts. In addition, even if the pump is stopped, when the
power switch is turned on, sometimes the pump may suddenly
run due to automatic operation, so don’t touch the shaft, coupling
and other rotating parts. Since the rotating parts are rotating at a
high speed, there is injury danger.
Don’t install the pump and motor near dangerous and flammable
articles. Otherwise, it may cause fire due to ignition.
Please confirm that there are no loose wire connections on the
motor, the primary side and secondary side of control panel, and
power machine in the control panel; and remove the dust. If bad
connection or dust adsorbed on the terminal part due to loose
wire connection, it may lead to heating and the danger of fire
accident.
Don’t be operated the pump run for above 2minutes when the
discharge valve is closed. Otherwise, it may cause pump body
and plug damage and motor burning due to pump pressure and
temperature rise.
Warning Don’t touch the charge part under turning power switch on.
Otherwise, there is the danger of electric shock.
Don’t burn plastic components. In case of burning, it may
generate harmful gases.
Please move the product cautiously according to the lifting
method (cautions label). Otherwise, there is the danger of drop
and injury.
Upon overhaul or repair, please cut off the power switch. Injury
may occur due to sudden pump start or there is the danger of
electric shock and injury.
Do not pour water on the motor. Otherwise, it may cause electric
shock, electric leakage, fire and trouble.
Handling and construction of a pump should work safely in
consideration of mass or shape. Otherwise, there is the danger of
fall and injury.
Persons other than repair technicians never conduct disassemble
or repair. Otherwise, it may sometimes cause injury due to electric
shock, fire, abnormal action or damage.
In disassembling or repair, please close the suction and discharge
valves and drain the pump water off, and the work is conducted
on condition of no pump pressure rise and no negative pressure.
There may be the danger of abnormal pump rotation or pump
damage due to incomplete operation and the suction and
discharge pressure difference.
Vibration standard

water is properly. Avoid over-tightening or
Amplitude
uneven tightening of the gland packing. Vibration standard value
When the leakage rate cannot be adjusted,
the shaft seal has worn out. Replace the
gland packing or a pair of the gland
packing and the shaft to adjust the
leakage rate.
(5) A right figure is the criterion value of
vibration when installation of the pump
and piping are constructed correctly. Rotational speed (min-1)
When vibration is large, please check the
centering of the pump, piping and loosening of the anchor bolt since they are considered to be
the cause.
(6) Check for loosening of the mounting bolts and the terminal screws for electrical wiring.
(7) Measure the insulation resistance of the motor once a month. Values over 1 MΩ are
adequate. However, in cases where the insulation resistance is over 1 MΩ but shows a
sharp decrease, there is probably some abnormality, and repair will be required.
