III. PROCEDURE
Teacher’s Activity Student’s Acrivity

PRELIMINARY ACTIVITY

 Prayer
Before we start our class, evrybody please stand
for a prayer. Xian please lead.
(Prayer)

But before you take your seats, there are papers

under your chairs, kindly throw it in the proper
waste disposal.
(Throwing garbage)
 Greetings
Good morning class! How are you today?
Very good! everyone is present.
 Checking of Attendance
Is anyone absent today?
No ma’am
 Setting of Class Rules
Remember to always listen, participate and raise
your right hand if you want to answer.
Yes ma’am
Please listen carefully for we are having to start
our new lesson.

I. ENGAGE
Before we jump into another exciting discussion,
can someone tell me what was our topic
yesterday?
Yes shun?

Our topic yesterday was about illustrating the

permutations and deriving the formula
ma’am!
Verygood! What is permutation again?

Is an arrangement of an objects in definite

order.
Indeed! Thankyou! How about the formulas?
Can someone tell me the 3 formulas we have
been discussed? Yes Blch?
we have
P (n, n) = n*r
P (n, r) = n!
P (n, r) = n! /(n-r)!

Yes, that’s correct! Thankyou!

Okay now! we have an activity, are you familiar

the movie Squid game?
Yes, you are! Squid game is about eliminating
each member of group and if you fail the game,
yes automatically killed.

Now divide yourselves into 4 groups, each group

should answer the activity correctly, and if the
group fails then automatically killed, the activity
is called Squid Game.
I will give you 1minute to answer the 4
questions! Remember post your answer in the
board right after! Okay start now!
1. P (5, 5) 3. 3!+3!
2. P (6, 3) 4. 7! 3!
(After the activity)
Very good since everyone got the correct answer
let’s now proceed the thrill realm of
permutations.

II. EXPLORE
How are we going to find the number of
permutations of distinct n objects taken r at a
time?

Calculate the number of permutations if there are

6 distinct objects taken 3 at a time.
Solution:
Based on the given, n= 6, and r= 3. Therefore, by
using the formula P (n, r)= n! / (n-r)!
P (6, 3) = 6! /(6-3)!
= 6! / 3!
=6x5x4x3! / 3!
= 120
Hence, there is a total of 120 permutations.

Find the number of arrangements of the set of the

six letters in the word SAFETY.
1. Taken 2 at a time?
2. Taken 3 at a time?
3. Taken 4 at a time?
4. Taken 5 at a time?
5. Taken 6 at a time?
6. Taken 7 at a time?

1.P(6, 2) = 6!/(6-2)! = 6!/ 4! =6.5.4!/4! =6.5 =30

2.P(6,3) =6!/(6-3)! =6!/3! =6.5.4.3!/3! =6.5.4
=120
3.P(6,4) =6!/(6-4)! =6!/2! =6.5.4.3.2!/2! =720
4.P(6,5) =6!/(6-5)! =6!/1! =6.5.4.3.2.1!/1! = 720
5.P(6,6) =6!/(6-6)! =6!/0! = 6.5.4.3.2.1/1! =720

III. EXPLAIN

Teacher will group her students according by

seating rows. Each group will also choose their
representative to explain their work.
Group1. Calculate the number of permutations of
7 different plants taken 3 at a time.

Group2. The number of permutation of 3

numbers using the digits 7,8,2,5,4,1 if the
repitation is allowed.

Group3. The number of permutation of 6 number

using the digits 7, 8, 2, 5 ,4, 1.

After 3 minutes…
Each group representative explaining their work
excellently.

IV. ELABORATE
The teacher will explain and elaborate the topic.
This is to give more information for better
understanding.

(Teacher Elaborating)
Any questions about the topic class? Okay! Since
you have no questions at all, let’s have a quiz
today. Get ready to showcase your newfound
expertise!

V. EVALUATE
Simplify
1. 4! + 2!
2. 6! + 3!
3. 7! 2!
4. 5! 5!
5. 8! – 4!

Evaluate
1. P (3, 2)
2. P (5, 3)
3. P (4, 4)
4. P (6, 5)

Solve the problems involving permulations

1. A family of 7 wants to watch a movie in a
cenima together. In how many ways can
they be arranged in a row of 7 seats?
2. In how many ways can the letters of the
word SCHOOL be arranged?
