clear motive.
Torreta: An elderly woman remains under medical care after sustaining a deep
wound from a sudden bolo attack at Tagum Public Terminal, on the morning of
January 29.
The victim, identified as Maria Lora Embodo of Monkayo, Davao de Oro, was inside
a passenger van bound for Isulan, Cotabato, when the assault occurred. The
suspect, Jhon Lantao Bero, 27, from Matampay, Kadingilan, Bukidnon, was
reportedly on the same vehicle.
According to Tagum police, Embodo was waiting for other passengers to board
when Bero suddenly grabbed her hair and hacked her with a bolo. Fortunately, she
managed to evade a direct hit to the head, resulting only in a wound to her ear.
Hearing Embodo’s cries for help, a van conductor intervened, pulling the suspect out
of the vehicle.
Authorities reported that Bero could not provide a clear reason for the attack. He is
currently detained at Tagum City Police Station and may face charges of frustrated

Anonuevo: Donald Trump has said that everyone loves his plan for the US to take
ownership of the Gaza Strip and develop it, with Palestinians moved out of the
territory.
"The US will take over the Gaza Strip and we will do a job with it too," Trump said on
Tuesday during a joint conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Trump made the comments after meeting with the Israeli leader at the White House.
Netanyahu responded, saying the idea is "worth paying attention to."
However the proposal has been greeted by international condemnation. Middle East
nations and European countries rejected the proposals as illegal and unworkable.
Palestinians said they would amount to ethnic cleansing and genocide.
The US president has suggested that neighbouring nations including Jordan and
Egypt could take in displaced Palestinians from Gaza - a proposal that was rejected
by Arab nations.

Association or Meet 2025, which commenced on February 3 and concludes today.
This event has seen various athletic competitions, with Unit 6 notably dominating the
swimming events on the first day.
Looking ahead, Davao del Norte is set to host the Davao Regional Athletic
Association or Davraa Meet 2025 from March 9 to 15. Athletes from the Dcaa Meet
are vying for spots to represent the region in this upcoming event.
In recent achievements, Davao City athletes played a significant role in the Davao
Region's fourth-place finish in the 2024 Palarong Pambansa held in Cebu City. The
region secured 32 golds, 25 silvers, and 35 bronzes, improving from its sixth-place
finish in 2023.
Additionally, Davao City athletes were instrumental in leading Philippines Team A to
emerge as overall champions at the 11th BIMP-Eaga Friendship Games, winning 31
golds, 39 silvers, and 22 bronzes. The swimming team particularly shone, with

Basketball League player Ken Fred “Kentoy” Segura was shot dead while driving in
Barangay Pulanglupa, M’lang, Cotabato, on Tuesday night. Segura, known as “Mr.
Piso-piso” for his on-court prowess, succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.
According to reports, Segura was driving along the National Highway with his
nephew after participating in an invitational basketball tournament in M’lang when
suspects in a white car opened fire. Segura was hit in the side, while his nephew
escaped unharmed.

pursuing the suspects. Segura, a father of two, was a well-known figure in the
