(Local)
Torreon: For the local news, Man hacks elderly woman at Tagum Terminal without
clear motive.
Torreta: An elderly woman remains under medical care after sustaining a deep
wound from a sudden bolo attack at Tagum Public Terminal, on the morning of
January 29.
The victim, identified as Maria Lora Embodo of Monkayo, Davao de Oro, was inside
a passenger van bound for Isulan, Cotabato, when the assault occurred. The
suspect, Jhon Lantao Bero, 27, from Matampay, Kadingilan, Bukidnon, was
reportedly on the same vehicle.
According to Tagum police, Embodo was waiting for other passengers to board
when Bero suddenly grabbed her hair and hacked her with a bolo. Fortunately, she
managed to evade a direct hit to the head, resulting only in a wound to her ear.
Hearing Embodo’s cries for help, a van conductor intervened, pulling the suspect out
of the vehicle.
Authorities reported that Bero could not provide a clear reason for the attack. He is
currently detained at Tagum City Police Station and may face charges of frustrated
murder. I’m Nesh Torreta, reporting.

(National)
Norharron: Now for the national news, VP Sara Duterte’s impeachment joke sparks
outrage, Kameah Del Moro for the report.
Del Moro: Vice President Sara Duterte has drawn criticism from the Makabayan
Bloc for her apparent lack of concern over her impeachment, comparing it to a
romantic breakup during a recent public appearance.
When asked for a Valentine’s Day message, Duterte likened the impeachment
process to a lovers’ separation, stating that a breakup is more painful than being
impeached by Congress. Her remarks came amid ongoing scrutiny over allegations
of misused public funds.
The Makabayan Bloc expressed disappointment, calling the issue a serious matter
involving millions of pesos from the national treasury. The group emphasized that the
impeachment process is not a trivial topic but a significant accountability mechanism.
During a press briefing, Duterte reassured her supporters, saying, “sa taumbayan
ang tagumpay.” However, her lighthearted approach to the impeachment has fueled
further criticism, with critics accusing her of downplaying the gravity of the
allegations.
The controversy highlights the growing tension between Duterte and opposition
groups, who are demanding transparency and accountability in her office. As the
impeachment proceedings continue, the Vice President’s response has raised
questions about her handling of the situation and her commitment to addressing the
allegations.
No further details were provided about the impeachment case or Duterte’s defense.
The incident underscores the deepening political divide in the Philippines and the
challenges facing public officials under scrutiny.

(International)
Torreon: For the international news, Trump says "everyone loves my Gaza plan"
despite global condemnation. We have Franklin Anonuevo for the details.
Anonuevo: Donald Trump has said that everyone loves his plan for the US to take
ownership of the Gaza Strip and develop it, with Palestinians moved out of the
territory.
"The US will take over the Gaza Strip and we will do a job with it too," Trump said on
Tuesday during a joint conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Trump made the comments after meeting with the Israeli leader at the White House.
Netanyahu responded, saying the idea is "worth paying attention to."
However the proposal has been greeted by international condemnation. Middle East
nations and European countries rejected the proposals as illegal and unworkable.
Palestinians said they would amount to ethnic cleansing and genocide.
The US president has suggested that neighbouring nations including Jordan and
Egypt could take in displaced Palestinians from Gaza - a proposal that was rejected
by Arab nations.

Norvilla: Thank you Franklin. We will be right back for our sports updates after this
short break. Once again, I’m Norharron Norvilla.
Torreon: And I’m Jay Anne Torreon. This is…
