Modal verbs COULD and WOULD+like

Could
Could — це форма дієслова can у минулому часі, тобто “міг/могла/ могли”.

■ Не could pay for lunch.

Важливо!
Could вживається у запитаннях для підкреслення ввічливості!

■ Could you bring a glass of water?


Would + like
Would + like вживається у значенні «хотів би» і допомагає висловити ввічливість.

■ I would like to drink a cup of coffee.

Якщо вжити цю конструкцію у запитанні, то вона буде висловлювати ввічливу пропозицію


або запрошення.
