Project Dissertation Guidelines For MBA IV
This document provides detailed guidelines for both students and faculty regarding the MBA project
dissertation. The objective is to provide clarity on the steps involved in the preparation, submission,
and evaluation of the project dissertation.
All MBA IVth semester students are required to submit a project proposal (2-3 pages) to their
assigned guides. The proposal must outline key details about the project. Please note that once the
project title and company have been finalized, they cannot be altered.

A Comparative Analysis of Marketing Strategies Employed by Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) and
Nestle India in the Indian Market, Examining their Impact on Consumer Perception and Market Share
in the Dairy and Personal Care Product Categories
2. Organization/Company
Provide the name of the industry, the company and the functional area (such as marketing, finance, or
human resources) where the project will be conducted. Include a brief description of the organization
and its business operations.
4. Methodology
Research Design
Sampling Technique Used
Data Collection: Specify both primary and secondary methods for gathering data.
Data Analysis Techniques: Outline the analytical tools and techniques that will be used, such
as Chi-Square, Correlation, Regression, T-test, ANOVA, etc.
5. Tools
Identify the software tools (such as MS Excel, SPSS, R, EViews, etc.) that will be employed for data
analysis.
Details of the Industry and the company having contact details which include the name,
telephone no., website and address of the registered office and geographical areas of
operation of the company.
Describe the nature of the company’s business (e.g., service, production, trading) and the
industry it belongs to.
Include the company’s vision and mission.
Product range and size of the organization (in terms of manpower and turnover).
Organizational structure and leadership.
Market share and position in the industry.
List of people interacted with during data collection.
Source of data collection.
Provide a detailed review of relevant literature (following APA format including atleast 25
papers).
Conduct a SWOT analysis of the company, presenting the results in a matrix format.
Findings/Results: Present key findings and support them with facts and figures derived from
Chapter 3.
Conclusion: Provide insights gained from the project, focusing on the practical practices
followed by the company in various management functions.
Suggestions: Offer recommendations based on the project. Discuss any difficulties
encountered during the project.
Limitations: Outline any challenges or limitations faced during the research and analysis.
The final report should be compiled following the sequence outlined below. The report should be
typed on high-quality A4 size executive bond paper. The chapters are to be numbered as Chapter-1,
Chapter-2 etc.

o Body Text: 12-point Times New Roman
o Headings: 12-point Times New Roman
o Title Page: 14-point Times New Roman
Page Numbering: Pages should be numbered sequentially at the bottom center of each page
starting from the body of the report.

The main body should be 40-50 typed pages, excluding the appendices and bibliography. The
report must be formatted in double space with a 12-point font size.
Follow the APA format for citations and references. Below are a couple of examples:

Submission and Declaration
Each student must submit their dissertation as part of the fulfillment of the MBA degree requirements.
The declaration page should state that the dissertation is the student’s original work and has not been
submitted elsewhere for academic purposes.
The final submission should include a hard copy of the dissertation along with a CD containing the
report for reference purposes.
By adhering to these guidelines, students will be able to present a comprehensive and well-organized
project dissertation. Faculty members should ensure that students follow these steps to maintain
consistency and quality across submissions.
