Tier 1:

To enter the Technician Mode, plug one end of the AC power cord
into the AC inlet plug located on the back of the RemRest device.
Plug the other end into the wall socket. The green light will flash on
for two seconds then will remain off.

With the motor blower off,


• hold down the “up” arrow and the ”down” arrow on
(the Ramp button)
• simultaneously push and hold the on/off button for two seconds
• the on/off light should start blinking 1/2 second on and
1/2 second off for 5 seconds, indicating you are in technician
mode. It will then go right into Set Prescription Pressure Mode
(blink once then off 3 seconds).

RemRest 3
TO SET THE PRESCRIPTION PRESSURE
(BLINK ONCE/OFF 3 SECONDS):
The default setting is 10cmH2O. Using a manometer and pushing
the up and down arrows, adjust the pressure to the prescribed
setting.

TO SET THE RAMP STARTING PRESSURE


(BLINK TWICE/OFF 3 SECONDS):
The default setting for the starting ramp pressure is 3.5 cmH2O.
To enter the starting ramp set mode, press the white dot once. The
white dot is located between the on/off button and ramp button.
Using a manometer and pushing the up and down arrows, adjust
the pressure to the prescribed setting.

TO SET THE RAMP TIME


(LIGHT BLINKS 3 TIMES/OFF 3 SECONDS):
To enter the set ramp time mode, press the white dot a second
time. Press the up and down arrow to set the ramp time. The ramp
light will blink based on the ramp delay time. Push the up arrow
again to return to the prescription pressure.

Before exiting the technician mode, remember to always press the


white dot button after any change to lock the new settings into
memory. To exit the Technician Mode at any point, press the on/off
button. Both the on/off and ramp lights will go out.

4 RemRest
NOTE: Tier 1 model does not incorporate automatic altitude
compensation. In order to insure that this device provides the
expected pressures, the following adjustments to the pressure
setting must be made to the device:

For an increase in altitude, please multiply the prescription


pressure setting by the correction factor found in the table.

For a decrease in altitude, please divide the prescription pressure


setting by the correction factor found in the table.

Note: There are no differences between the Tier 2 and Tier 3 label
other than color. Tier 2’s label is aqua and Tier 3’s label is blue.

DEFINITIONS:

LOW Used in technician/dealer mode only


HI Used in technician/dealer mode only
TIME Used in the technician/dealer mode only
4 USE Used in the technician/dealer mode only
RAMP Icon will flash during ramp setting or will stay
on once ramp is set and the ramp mode is in use
RUN The display will show the time the motor/blower has
been running. May only be reset in the dealer/
technician mode
PRES The display will show the prescription pressure
setting
HUMD Not currently available.

NOTE: First time device is put into service with a new patient, run
time, usage time and total time must be reset to insure accurate
compliance information.
6 RemRest
To enter the Technician Mode, plug one end of the AC power cord
into the AC inlet plug located on the back of the RemRest device.
Plug the other end into the wall socket. The light will turn on for two
seconds then will turn off. The LCD will also turn on completely
(as shown above) for 2 seconds and will then display prescription
pressure.

With the motor blower off,


• hold down the “up” arrow and the “down” arrow
• simultaneously push and hold on/off button for two seconds
• the light should start blinking 1/2 second on and 1/2 second off

NOTE: First time device is put into service with a new patient, run
time, usage time and total time must be reset to insure accurate
compliance information.

NOTE: To advance through the different modes, press mode button


repeatedly until in the desired mode.

TO SET THE PRESCRIPTION PRESSURE:


The default setting is 10cmH2O. Press the up arrow or down
arrow to adjust the pressure to the prescribed setting. The HI
will flash on the LCD and the pressure will be displayed cmH2O as
xx.x. The pressure will adjust in increments of 0.1cmH2O. To move
through the settings more quickly, hold down the up or down
arrow button. Once the desired setting is reached, press the mode
button to save the setting and enter next mode.

TO VIEW OR RESET THE RUN TIME:


The RUN and TIME icons will flash on the LCD and the
run time will be displayed on the LCD. Run time is the number of
hours the device is powered on. This value should be zeroed for new
patients to remove factory test hours.

Press the up and down arrows at the same time to reset the
run time to 0. Once the desired setting is reached, press the mode
button to save the setting.

TO VIEW OR RESET THE USAGE TIME:
The 4 USE and TIME icons will flash on the LCD and the
usage time the device was in use by the patient will be displayed on
the LCD. This value should be zeroed for new patients to remove
factory test hours.
Press the up and down arrows at the same time to reset the
usage time. Once the desired setting is reached, press the mode
button to save the setting.

TO SET THE RAMP STARTING PRESSURE:


The default setting for the starting ramp pressure is 3.5 cmH2O.

The LO icon will flash and the starting ramp pressure will be
displayed on the LCD. Press the up arrow or down arrow
to adjust the pressure to the desired start ramp pressure. The
pressure will adjust in increments of .1cmH2O. To move through the
settings more quickly, hold down the up or down arrow
button. Once the desired setting is reached, press the mode button
to save the setting.

TO SET THE RAMP TIME:


The RAMP and TIME icons will flash on the LCD and the
time in minutes will be displayed on the LCD. Press the up arrow
or down arrow to adjust the ramp time. The time will adjust in
5 minute increments from 5 to 50 minutes. Once the desired setting
is reached, press the mode button to save the setting.

TO SET THE AUTO COMPLIANCE:


The code “AC0” is displayed on the LCD indicating the factory
default setting of zero weeks. Press the up arrow or down
arrow to adjust the number of weeks from 1 to 26. Adjusting the
display to read AC0 or zero weeks turns off the auto compliance
feature. Once the desired setting is reached, press the mode button
to save the setting. The unit will perform a weekly check to confirm
28 hours of usage time per week (4 hours/day) for one to 26
weeks. If the client has failed to use the device, then the green

LED light will blink 3 seconds on and 1 second off and will not stop
blinking until the “data code” is read. The blinking will prompt the
user to contact the technician.

Instruct the customer to read the data code as follows:


To view the “data code”, which is the usage time in hours, push and
hold the MODE button for three seconds. A code will show up on
the display for five seconds and the green light will flash. No other
icons will turn on. After five seconds, the display will return to the
prescribed pressure setting and the green light will stop flashing.

The customer can restart the auto compliance mode by pressing


and holding the mode and up arrow for three seconds. The
actual times will not reset.

To reset the Auto Compliance mode, reset the usage time as


described above.
NOTE: The number of weeks for compliance should be set to
the requirements of the prescribing physician or to the
reimbursement criteria of the payer. Auto compliance is
designed to be an early warning system to the dealer of
issues which may result in less than prescribed usage of
CPAP. This is a first alert of potential clinical problems as well
as potential reimbursement issues.

NOTE: During initial patient evaluations, the unit should


remain plugged into the power source. Unplugging from
the power source will cause the auto compliance feature
to be reset!

VIEW TOTAL TIME:


The TIME icon will appear on the LCD and the total time in
hours will be displayed. The total time for Tier 2 is the time the
device is plugged in. Total time for Tier 3 is since unit was set-up
for a new patient. This value should be zeroed for new patients. To
zero, press and hold up and down arrows simultaneously for
3 seconds until the value reads 0, press mode.

VIEW OR SET THE DYNAMIC CALIBRATION:
This mode allows you to set a resistance compensation factor
determined by the type of interface device used. When using a
nasal mask or a full face mask, press the up or down arrows
to select “r nr ”. If using a nasal device such as the Nasal-Aire I or
II or the Spiritus, press the up or down arrows to select
“r r ”, the blower function will compensate for device restriction.
Once the desired setting is reached, press the mode button to save
the setting.

For Tier 2, the display is now back to prescription pressure and


you may review all mode settings or turn the power off to exit
technician mode.
For Tier 3, the display will show “LOAd” only. This is for
factory use only. You may push mode to get back to prescription
pressure or turn the power off to exit technician mode.

WARNING:
The Tier 2 and 3 units are shipped with a dust cover on the DB9
connector. This cap should be left on except when the connector is
in use.

Tier 3 Only:
AUTO MASK CHANGE REMINDER INDICATOR & RESET:
The “TIME” Icon on the LCD flashes after 90 days total time.
To reset, press and hold the mode and down arrow button for
3 seconds. The “Time” Icon goes off and the 90 day time interval
re-starts. This feature can only be disabled with an external
command via the external software and DB9 connector.

Tier 1, 2 & 3:
To exit out of the technician mode on all Tier models, press the on/off
button at any time. The light will turn off.
