I. OBJECTIVES
By the end of this lesson, students will be able to:
● Define what an outline is and its purpose in organizing information;
● Identify and differentiate between main ideas and supporting details
within a text; and
● Construct a topic outline from a given context.
A. Preliminaries

B. Review
The teacher asks the students to do the recap from the previous lesson together with the
imposing of classroom rules.
IV. LESSON PROPER
A. Motivation/Activity
The teacher begins by showing a short informational video about the three (3) colonial
periods (Spanish, American and Japanese) in the Philippines. He then asks students to
orally summarize the video in an organized manner. The students try to do the said task.

C. Abstraction
The teacher begins with introducing the problem of organizing/summarizing data logically
and in a time-efficient way. He emphasizes its role in real-world scenarios and future
endeavors such as the activity given earlier, or it could be a daily task in future careers.
He then introduces the topic: TOPIC OUTLINES, discusses it, and provides examples so
that the students would better understand.
D. Application
The teacher divides the class into five (5) groups. He then tasks the students to look up
the internet for a blog, and create a topic outline about it. All groups then cross-compare
their outputs and provide feedback.
ASSESSMENT
The teacher tasks the students to write one (1) topic outline from the given topics: a)
Why do we need to eat breakfast, b) The benefits of sleeping early and, c) What country
do you want to migrate to and why? )
