Chapter 1 - Introduction to the field project topic

1.1 Need for the study –


This point should cover the following
a) Why this study (significance)
b) Sources of key originating research question (s).
c) The selected problem in the theoretical context in the concerned discipline should
be specified.
1.2 Statement of the problem –
This point should cover the following
a) The problem to be investigated should be presented clearly and briefly.
b) Statement should emerge from the need of the study.
c) It should be object oriented.
d) It should be eye view of the project.
e) It should be in inverted commas.
1.3 Objectives of the project –
This point should cover the following
a) The objectives of the project should be made in clear, specific and precise terms.
b) The objectives of the project should be put in serial points.
c) They should cover summary of the title of the research project.
d) They should be in minimum words.
e) They should indicate scope to derive the research project.
f) Usually two to four objectives are expected at this level.
1.4 Research Hypothesis (Every project may not have a hypothesis).
This point should cover the following
a) A hypothesis is a tentative generalization the validity of which remains to be
tested.
b) Specify research hypothesis that you wish to investigate in this study.
c) They should be clear, specific and precise.
d) They should state the relationship of variables.
e) They should be simple.
f) They should be limited in scope.
g) They should be tested statements.
h) They should be in minimum number.

a) Define population with reference to project
b) Sampling unit should be specified.
c) Sampling frame should be defined / fitment of Sampling Test.
d) Sample size should be defined.
e) Sample procedure statistically / judgment should be defined.
f) Know the budgetary constraints if any
g) Understand sampling errors.
h) An explanation of the determination of the size and type of sample will also be
necessary.

4.2 Source and methods of Data Collection

specifically mentioned.

Different types of data analysis techniques used in the research project should be specifically
mentioned. Such as
A. Basic analytical tools, which include Tabular Analysis, Graphical Analysis,
Percentage Analysis or Ratio Analysis etc. should be specified.
B. Some advanced techniques can be used which includes Regression Analysis,
Multivariate Analysis, and ANOVA etc. should be specified. However the use of data
analysis method will depend upon the type of data, its distribution and the like.

Must be precise and specific
NOT TO BE NUMBERED. No Bullets.
Only 1 or 2 paragraphs are required.

Recommendations –
a) Should flow from the findings.
b) They should be very rational and practical.
c) They should be specific.
d) They should be indicative.
e) May provide Practical Plan.
