Parking the Mobile Clinic highlights the role of good healthcare in not letting
preventable diseases distract students from focusing on their education.
Drawing Water from the Well reflects the importance of having clean, potable
water accessible. Around the world, many children miss school due to
water-borne illnesses or to fetch water
1. Read the introduction. This gives you an outline of the theme based on
situations in the real world.
2. Understand the Game Field. This is the playfield on which your robot will run.
It shows you how the playfield is orientated and where the missions and start
areas are.
3. Understand the missions. As you go through the missions, refer to the game
field. Some are fixed in place, while others require your robot to move or
manipulate items. Read these sections carefully to know what your robot
must do, what you should avoid, and how to score points!
4. Read the Rules to know all the do’s and don’ts. Know when it is “safe” to
handle your robot, how to start and end the match, and more to ensure
everyone has a fair game!
The set of rules can be broken up into four sections. There are rules that the team must
follow before the match begins (Pre-Run), rules to follow when the match has started
and before the 2:00 minutes is up (During the Run), and rules to follow after the match
has ended (Post-Run).
3.1 Pre-run
● Robots will be inspected by referees according to the following requirements
prior to quarantine.
● A maximum of 3 motors may be brought to the playfield.
● Illegal or non-LEGO parts are not allowed to be used.
● Robots and attachment(s) must be able to fit in a 25x25x25cm box.
● Attachments that cause the robot to exceed the 25x25x25cm limit will not be
allowed to enter the game with the robot.
● The Robot, all extensions, attachment(s), arms, and sensors, must fit
completely within the start area(s) prior to launch.
● Teams are allowed to make physical adjustments to the robot in the starting
area before the start of the run.
● Teams may choose which start area their robot, attachments, and mission
props will start in.
Teams are allowed the following only when their robot is completely within any start
area:
● To swap between autonomous and non-autonomous modes.
● To switch programs in their robots.
● To change the robot arm attachments, sensors and/or motors within the start
area.
● To reposition or aim the robot for its next launch.
Once the robot attempt has ended, time is stopped, and the judge scores the
attempt. The scores and match time are noted on a scoring sheet (on paper or
digital), and the team needs to sign off the scores (on paper or digital
signature/checkbox). Once the team representative signs off by their score and
match timing, no further amendments are allowed.
If a team does not want to sign off within a reasonable period of time, the judge can
decide to disqualify the team for this round. Their right to sign off, as well as the
penalty for not doing so, will be clearly explained to the teams.
Video, photo, or other sources of “evidence” are not permissible in altering the match
score and time. Interference by people outside the game area (anyone who is not the
immediate team member: teachers, coaches, parents, etc.) is likewise not accepted.
If a team finishes an attempt without having solved a (partial) task that yields
positive points, the time of that run will be set at 120 seconds.
The ranking of teams depends on the best performance from the games. For
example, the best round of three will be used to rank teams. Furthermore, if teams
have matching scores, the outcome will then be based on the round timing.
Note:
1. Bucket should be suspended in
the air inside the well
2. Blue wheel completely in start
circle
3. String should be taut
M06 Drones
Description:
Every child deserves a strong foundation for their
education—and that starts with good health! The
Mobile Clinic is on a mission to bring accessible
healthcare right to students, ensuring they stay
healthy, thrive in school, and focus on building their
future without worrying about preventable
illnesses.
Mission:
Robots are to guide (by pushing, pulling, or some
other means) the Mobile Clinic to its designated location. The more accurate the
Mobile Clinic placement, the higher the points. Wheel(s) must be completely in to
score.
Point Allocation:
Description:
Mission:
Robots are to raise the water unit by pulling on
the tyre. The further the tyre is displaced, and the
higher the water unit, the higher the points scored.
Point Allocation:
Description:
Every experiment requires a safe working space
conducive for learning and experimentation.
Using the right tools allows students to turn
textbook concepts into hands-on discovery
sessions!
Mission:
Robots are to set-up the STEM table by
completely flipping both the green and red
tabletops. The top of the greed/red cubes should
be pointing toward the playfield to score.
Point Allocation:
Description:
STEM comes to life when the right tools are in the
hands of students. The right equipment not only
ensures safety, but transforms learning into a
thrilling, hands-on adventure. Taking ideas off the
page and turning them into real-world discoveries
inspire curiosity and innovation.
Mission:
Robots are to activate the science apparatus and
retrieve the material sample. This is done by pushing
the movable trigger at the bottom which releases the top panel, causing the material
sample to fall.
Point Allocation:
In State Points
The trigger is displaced, the top panel is released, and the material 10
sample has fallen, but remains on the playfield.
The trigger is displaced, the top panel is released, and the material 30
sample has been returned to either start area by the robot.
5.7 Robocleaner
Description:
Keeping the school grounds clean not only makes the space look
amazing but also helps keep pests, odors, and bacteria at bay! Today,
innovative robocleaners are stepping in to maintain cleanliness,
ensuring the job is done efficiently and on time, so everyone can enjoy
a fresh, welcoming environment conducive to learning.
Mission:
A Trash Bag (black bricks) has mistakenly been left behind in one of four possible
locations on the school grounds. Robots are to launch from the left start area, travel
along the last known Inspection Path (black line surrounded by thick white border),
use a sensor to locate the black Trash Bag, and use a light or sound output to
indicate that the Trash Bag has been found.
Additional Stipulations
1. This is an autonomous mission: after launching the robot, teams are not
allowed to use their iPad/device to actively control the robot.
2. A sensor must be used to detect the black Trash Bag. Points cannot be
scored if the sensor is not functional (i.e. code does not make use of the
sensor)
3. Teams must notify the referees that they are attempting this autonomous
mission.
4. The robot must launch from the left start area, with any part (or its projection)
passing over the green arrow, before continuing along the Inspection Path.
The projection of the robot must be over the Inspection Path from launch to
the time it detects the Trash Bag.
5. False positives - where the robot outputs a sound or light where the Trash Bag
is not present, will result in a small penalty.
6. Mission 7 ends and teams may regain control of their iPad/device when one
of the following occur:
a. The robot match time is up.
b. The Trash Bag has been detected by the sensor and a light or sound
signal has been observed, and teams have verbally informed the
referee (Such as by telling the referee “Autonomous Mission Done.”)
c. The team informs the referee that they are abandoning the mission
(such as by telling the referee “Abandon Mission!” ). Once abandoned,
points can no longer be scored for this mission.
Point Allocation:
The maximum points a team can score is highlighted at the end of the following
score sheet.
Mission P R1 R2 R3
Points are awarded for EACH drone scored. Note the number of drones scoring in
each category and add the total on the right columns. There are 5 drones.
