COC3 - SERVER - CLIENT Configuration for CSS NCII Using Server 2012 & Windows 10.

SERVER PC

*Set The Time and Date

Step 1: click on the time and date “(Right side)”

Step 2: click the “change date and time settings”

Step 3: click the ‘’Change time zone” and select the (UTC + 8:00) taipei. After that select the correct time zone click
the “ok’’ button

Step 4:click the ‘’Change date and time’’ then enter the proper time and date. After you’ve enter click the “ok
button, then click the ‘’ok’’ button on the date and time program.

*Configure LAN/ Network and Firewall Discover

Step 1: Right click on the third icon on the’’ (button right corner)’’ after that click open network sharing center.

Step 2: click the “change advance sharing settings, read properly and click the Guest Public Turn on everything, click
private turn on everything just like the Guest Public, and click all network turn on the public folder sharing turn off
the password.

Step 3: after turning on and off the proper settings, click ‘’save and change’’.

Step 4: click the ‘’windows Firewall’’, click the ‘’Turn Windows on or off’’

Step 5: click turn off Windows Firewalls (not recommended) on both Private network settings and public network
settings click the ‘’ok’’ button

Step 6: click the Network and Sharing center, after that click on the ‘’Ethernet’’ tab ‘’(it should be highlighted in blue
text)

Step 7: click properties, unclear internet protocol version 6 (TCP/IPv6), click the internet protocol version 4 (TCP
/IPv4) and click properties.

Step 8: click use the following IP address section, enter the IP address that you will be using ex: (192.168.10.1). in the
subnet mask section, enter 255. 255. 255. 0.

Step 9: repeat the same with use the following DNS server address (only enter the IP address you have entered
before. Do not enter true same subnet mask), click the ‘’ok” button if you entered the correct settings close all
programs once you are done.

Step 10: Click on the ‘’file manager program’’, Right click on this pc, then click properties, you will be sent to the
system program, click on the change settings tab (should be highlighted blue text)

Step 11: click on change button, enter the name of the system (in this case, since we configuring the server, change
the name to “server”, change the name of the work group (in this case, it should be CSS), click “ok” button and wait
until the system unit creates the work group. You will be given a prompt , click on the ok button, uncheck the box
underneath the same setting you have clicked then click apply and click “Restart now”
Client PC configuration

1.set date and time

-Do the same process you have done to the server pc (if you cannot change the date and time settings, turn off the
set time automatically option)

2.configure LAN/ Network and firewall discover

-You will be sent to the Setting program, while. on this program go to the Ethernet run and Click network and sharing
center.

-Do the Same process you did on the Advance Sharing Settings on or Server PC (Note that there is a new option
called Home Group connections under the private setting, Just turn on the setting for the HomeGroup option. Do the
same with the now Options under the Guest or Public Setting)

-You will be given of Prompt once you have Clicked the Save settings button, Click Sign me out later.

-Do the Same Process You have Previously done With windows Defender Settings with the server pc

-Enter tire Ethernet tab and repeat the same Process you have done with the Server PC. (note the IP address on the
client PC SHOULD NOT be the same as the IP address on the Server pc unless you are in the click on change button,
enter the name of the system (in this case, since we configuring the server, change the name to “client PC”, change
the name of the work group (in this case, it should be CSS), click “ok” button and wait until the system unit creates
the work group. You will be given a prompt , click on the ok button, uncheck the box underneath the same setting
you have clicked then click apply and click “Restart now”

Optional

-Create a folder in desktop with your last as the folder name Check Peer-to-Peer Connection (server) If the Client and
server dosen't show up, use the CMD Program (You can enter the CMD program by Searching if on the Search bar or
press Windows Key and press the R Key

-After You have entered the Program, enter this Command "Ping (Ip address of the Client PC)" (Repeat the process
for the client PC. Remember to enter the Sever's IP adress)

-after you have Pinged both System units while on the Client Pc. Enter the file manager. -left click on the time
network to the Client PC and Server Should appear on the tab,if they don't, refresh the two tab ( Right click the tab
and click on the "Refresh button") Go back to the server PC and go the Server mansol then add the requires roles and
Feutres

-on the dashboard tab, select the text highlighted in blue Called Add roles and features. After clicking on it, you will
be given a prompt, Press ok on two prompt and wait til, the server creates the ideas

-once the server creates the holes, click on the same text as before

-You will be taken to the add roles and features Wizard. Check the box that says “skip this page by default then press
next > button until you reach the server roles tab

-click active directory demain services then click add features

-click on DHCP server and repeat the process. Then click next till you reach the confirmation tab then click install

-after the installation progress finished, close the program, click on the notification icon

-click on complete the DHCP configuration then click commit then click close.

-click promote this server to a domain controller


-click on add a new forest then enter a root domain name in this case, we entered deped.not, after that, click next

-Add a Password. Then click next until you reach properquisites check. Click install

-once you installation is done, close the tab

-go to DHCP tab and right click on the option that say server, then click on DHCP manager

-click server enter the name that the domain you’ve name .net then right click on IPv4 then click new scope , after
that , click next

-enter the name then click next

-On the start IP address, enter the clients IP address then on the end IP address, enter this IP address (192. 168. 10. 1
Click next if you are done configuring it’s setting (keep clicking on next till you exit the program

-go back to the network and sharing center then click on the ethernet text and go to properties

-go back to IPv4’s properties tab and change the preferred DNS server settings back to the servers IP address

-click file manager and right click on this pc then click properties, change setting and click on the remote tab then
click ok

-go back to the server manager and click tools then click Active Directory users and computer, click on the domain
then click the folder “user”

-right click on the empty space on the folder then on the new option then click users.

-enter this name “testure1” (also enter it on the logon name) then click next

-add a password then check user cannot change password and password never expires uncheck all over the boxes
then click next then finish

-locate restoser 1 and right click then click properties, click the member of tab, click add then enter administrator in
the enter the object names to select section, then click next then apply and ok

CLIENT

-go to the file explorer then right click on this Pc then click properties change properties, change settings then click
the change button

- click the Domain setting and enter the domain name click next once you are done, enter password you have
entered to the server in the server

-A prompt will pop click on next click ok, close the tab then a prompt will pop up then click restart now

Login by using other user then use testuser 1 after tunt go to the search bar and type remote desktop connection an
d type the server’s IP address then click connect

-enter restuser 1 password and click ok

-a prompt will pop up, click on yes

-go back to the server pc and go to the server manager

- click tools and repeat the process you have than to make restuser 1 change it instead , after making testuser 2, exit
the remote desktop control

-go back to the tools tab and right click the domain name and hover your mouse corsour on the new section and
click organizational unit
-a new tab will show up, enter a name in the empty section we outored CSSOU then click ok

-go back to the servers file explorer and go to the Local disk (D: ) folder redirection in it folder should nam e folder
redirection, right click on the folder and click properties

-go to the sharing tab and click share,click the dropdown icon and select everyone then add right click on the newly
added everyone user and click the dropdown icon and click Read/write after that click share then click done ,click
advance sharing then permission click add everyone selected

-enter AD and click check names, click administrator and click ok then click apply

-while on the permission for FOLDER REDIRECTION check the boxes, then click apply and ok then repeat then close
the tab

-go back to the server manger program on the server pc and click tools and select group policy management

-when you entered the group policy tab, click the dropdown icon next to forest (domain name).net then click
dropdown next to domains, (domain name).net then the name of organizational unit you have entered before
(CSSOU) right click the folder and click the first option then rename it to (SSGPO) then click ok

-once the GPO has been created. Right click on it and click edit, click user configuration, policies windows setting,
folder redirection then right click on DEKSTOP and click properties

- click the dropdown icon select Basic

- get the root path of your folder redirection its local (D: ) folder REDIRECTION once you have located the root path
right click on your folder and click properties

- go to the sharing tab, \\server\ folder redirection copy the text and click okay

-paste the text copied to the root path section then click apply yes and okay

-after that Go to the server manger and make a user 1 in the organization unit you have created (CSSOU), go back to
tools active directory users and computers then click the organization unit folder (CSSOU) then create a new user
user 1 (follow the same steps when you when you create testuser 1)

-right click on the icon and click properties member of add enter add checknames highlighted administrator, click ok
and apply and ok

-go back to the client pc then switch user then log-in using user 1

-once you have switched users create a shared folder, right click and click properties

-go to the security tab and click edit, select system and click add, enter ad, click names, select administrator then
click ok, check all of the boxes, then click apply and ok then click ok again, create a text document tittled done, then
save the file (the text should be in the share folder)

-go to the server then open the file in local disk (D: ), follow this path (name of folder Dedirection )>user 1> Desktop,
then click continue, click security tab, click advance, change , ad, then click change names, select administrator, click
ok, click ok again, check the box at the top middle of the tab click apply, yes, ok ,ok again,ok again, close, enter the
Desktop folder> share> done. Open the text document, encode “THE SERVER”
