 A box contains 5 red, 3 blue, 6 green balls. If one ball is drawn at


random from the box, what is the probability that the ball drawn is
a. red?
B. green
C. blue
 A card is drawn from a pack of cards. Find the probability that:
 the drawn card is a face card?

 In a box there are 5 aspirin, 6 analgin and 10 paracetamol tablets. If
one tablet is chosen as random, find the probability that

 8 nails and 12 nuts are present in a box. Among them, half of the nails

BIONOMIAL DISTRIBUTION
 12% of the tablets produced by a tablet machine are defective what
is the probability that out of a random sample of 20 tablets produced
by the machine, 5 are defective?
 The probability that a pharmaceutical company can achieve a target
is 3/4. The count of tries is 5. What is the probability that the
company will attain the target thrice?
POISSON DISTRIBUTION
 An average of 5 cars arrive at a tollbooth every minute, assuming
that to be a poisson distribution, what is the probability that
exactly 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 cars arrive in one minute period.
 the average number of major lethal diseases hit in city is 2 per
year. What is the probability that exactly 3 diseases will hit the city
next year?
NORMAL DISTRIBUTION
 The life expectancy of light bulbs whose life times are normally
distributed with a mean life of 750 hours and with standard deviation
of 80 hours
 What is the probability that a light bulb will last 850 hours?
 What is the probability that a bulb will last between 780 and 850
hours?
 In a training program, the director has recorded from the study of
past participants that the mean length of time spent on the program
is 500 hours with standard deviation of 100 hours.
 What is the probability that a candidate selected at random will
take between 500 to 650 hours to complete the training program?
 What is the probability that a candidate selected at random will
take more than 650 hours to complete the program?
 Assume the mean height of sorghum varieties to be 68.22 inches with
a variance of 10.5 inches. How many varieties in a field of 100
varieties, would you expect to be over six feet tall?
 In a sample of 120 tablets in a factory the mean and standard
deviation of active ingredient content were 11.35 and 3.03
respectively. Find the percentage of tablets having active ingredient
content between 9 and 17 in the whole sample assuming that the

variance of 25 and an unknown mean:

Null hypothesis states that normal Hb levels happens to be 14.6
g/dl.

 An experiment is conducted to study the effectiveness of three
methods of analysis titration, instrumental methods and
