1) It is the appraisal month and Rocket Singh, a senior sales manager working in Patanjali
Pharmaceuticals is feeling very anxious about it. He wants to purchase a house in
Ahmedabad for which he is saving money. Last year, he was given the best employee of
the year award which entailed the maximum bonus of 8 lakh rupees. Hoping to repeat this
performance and reward, he worked very hard in the last one year and focused on all the
unexplored pockets to increase the sales. As a result, he overshot the annual sales target by
30%. Today, Rocket received an email mentioning that the organization changed some
policies and the performance reward is changed from a cash bonus to 10 days Europe tour.
Assume that you are Rocket’s boss, and you have a deep understanding of employee
motivation. What can you say about Rocket’s motivation in the upcoming quarter/year?

2) A father, Jackie, wanted his son, Tiger, to develop a reading habit. One day, Jackie bought
a few comic books from the series "Heroes" and kept on the Tiger's table. Two days later,
Jackie asked about the comic books and Tiger said they were finished the same day as he
loves reading comic books. Jackie thought that this behaviour should be rewarded so that
the habit is inculcated. Therefore, for every comic book that Tiger reads, he was given a
bar of chocolate. After a few months, Ayesha, Tiger's mother, complained that this practice
is spoiling his teeth and should not be continued. Jackie thought that by now the reading
habit would have been developed and it will not affect if he stops chocolate as rewards.
Considering this, Jackie bought a few volumes of the latest comic series named "Baaghi"
which was mentioned by Tiger earlier. When Tiger saw the new comic books, he was very
excited, but when he did not receive the chocolate bar after the first volume, he did not read
the remaining ones. You are Jackie's best friend Danny, how will you explain Tiger's
behaviour to Jackie considering that Tiger enjoyed reading comic books earlier?
