Course Objectives
CVL342 – Steel Design
Perquisites → CVL242 Structural Analysis
➢To study the design of compression members, tension members, flexural members, and built-up
sections.
Course Outcomes
CO3: Able to analyze and design compression, tension, and flexural members
Overall Outcome: To gain an educational & comprehensive experience in the analysis and design
of simple steel structures.

Grading Policy
➢The weightage of different assessment components is as follows.
Course Policies
Email – Please include CVL342 in the subject line of emails for a quicker response.
Attendance - Expected to attend all lectures & perform all the work assigned by the
instructor. If a student’s attendance is less than 75%, the student will be awarded one grade
less than the actual grade that he/she has earned.
Cheating – Any student found to be cheating (quizzes/exams) will be awarded an F grade and
reported to the academic office. IIT Delhi HONOR CODE is expected to be followed by all
students.
Lecture Notes – Lecture notes will be uploaded on Moodle (typically after the completion of a
unit). Commercialization of lecture notes & institute-provided course materials is not permitted.
