Technique Sheet - Ut1

This document outlines the procedure for ultrasonic testing (UT) of DSS pipe according to EN 1714, detailing acceptance criteria, equipment settings, and scanning methods. It specifies the use of various probes and calibration blocks, along with instructions for scanning distances and coverage. Important notes emphasize that only experienced personnel should conduct the tests and provide guidelines for scanning speed and overlap.

METHOD OF TESTING : Pulse Echo , A - Scan Contact Method SENSITIVITY CALIBRATION BLOCK: 46mm
CALIBRATION BLOCK : IIW (V1) Block, V2 Block (DSS) Hole Depth: ¼T Hole Dia. 3mm
SCANNING : 1. Do TR Normal probe scanning for a distance half-skip+5mm from the weld cap edge
2. Do creep wave probe scanning for 1"distance from the cap edge. The secondary CW covers root also.
3. Do Shear wave Probe scanning up to Fullskip+ weld width distance
4. Do TRL probe scanning up to 1/2 skip +5mm from the weld cap
4. Do 0° TR probe scanning from the weld cap if smooth enough
5. Do 45° TRL probe scanning parallel to weld for transverse defects
