Under Section 138(b) of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881

Subject: Legal Notice for Dishonor of Cheque under Section 138 of the Negotiable
Instruments Act, 1881

Sir/Madam,

I issue this legal notice on behalf of my client , resident of shri niketan colony, in respect of
dishonor of a cheque issued by you in discharge of your legally enforceable liability.

1. That you had issued a cheque bearing number 5687823 dated 23/1/25, drawn on State
bank of india, for a sum of ₹ 25,000 in favor of my client in discharge of your
liability.
2. That the said cheque was presented by my client to his/her bank, but the same was
returned unpaid with the endorsement on 15/2/25.
3. That the dishonor of the above-mentioned cheque amounts to an offense under
Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.
4. That my client issued the cheque in good faith and trusted you to honor the payment.
However, your failure to ensure sufficient balance or make arrangements for
clearance has caused loss, inconvenience, and mental agony to my client.
5. Therefore, you are hereby called upon to make payment of the said amount of ₹
25,500 to my client within 15 days of the receipt of this notice.
6. Kindly treat this notice as final and if you fail to make the payment within the
stipulated time, my client shall be constrained to initiate appropriate legal proceedings
against you under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, at your sole
risk, cost, and consequences.

Please take notice accordingly.
