RACA Prospectus 2025
The Vision of RACA (Randfontein Arts & Culture Association) is to promote the arts, in all its
forms, in and around the West Rand community through encouraging the youth to
participate and become involved in the artistic and cultural experience.
The Mission of RACA is then to present an annual eisteddfod to allow the youth a platform
in which to participate in cultural activities and not only develop their creative talents but
ultimately develop a confidence within themselves and creating and nurturing their own
creative voices.

RACA Eisteddfod
✓ Participation in the eisteddfod is open to all schools, studios and individuals, subject
to the required entry fees.
✓ Please remember an Eisteddfod is not a competition, you compete against yourself,
the adjudicators look at the performance in front of them.
✓ RACA is affiliated with Talent Africa. Diamond and Platinum winners can contact
them to enter in further rounds.
✓ Please note that additional costs would be involved should a participant choose to
enter in any further rounds. RACA is simply affiliated with Talent Africa. All
information is available directly from the organisation. See contact details in the
administrative details section.
✓ It is the responsibility of participants to be au fait with the rules and regulations of
the affiliated organisation.
✓ The RACA entry fee per individual who participates will amount to R90.00 PER
ITEM. The entry fee for of RACA larger groups (6 or more participants) will
amount to R400.00. Small groups (2-5 participants) pay per individual.
✓ Diamond Club members will pay an annual entry fee of R600.00 for a maximum
number of 10 entries (entries must be for diamond club members only),
excluding late entries or re-scheduling. If entries exceed 10, normal entry fees will

be charged.
✓ No limits on number of schools/studios or number of entries per
school/studio/individual/group.
✓ All events and items will be adjudicated by impartial, credible and professional
adjudicators.
RACA Awards
✓ Top achieving groups/individuals with a minimum of a Diamond Award, will receive a
reward. GALA AWARDS CEREMONY DETAILS WILL BE COMMUNICATED.

GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR ENTRIES
Conditions
The competition is open to everyone on the following conditions:
o There are no limits to the number of entries a participant may partake in.
o Participants should observe the time allowed per item as outlined in this
prospectus. Please note that times might differ in further rounds of the
affiliated organisations, ATKV, etc.
o Participants should adhere to copyright where applicable.
o RACA and its host venues are indemnified against any loss, theft or injury
sustained during the festival.
o Participants agree to adhere to the general guidelines in this section, as well
as the specific guidelines provided at the beginning of each section in this
prospectus.
Adjudication
Only experienced and competent adjudicators will be used. Please note that the
adjudicator’s decision is final. No member of the public may engage in any way
with the adjudicator with regards to his/her decision. All complaints should be
taken up with the organizers by e-mail within 7 days of the adjudication.
Entry Fees
The entry fee is R90.00 per item per individual who participates.
Small Groups (2-5 participants) pay R90.00 per individual
R400.00 is payable for groups consisting of 6 individuals or more.
Pre-primary/Grade R
• Participants of all ages are welcome to enter the eisteddfod. The RACA
committee will try, as far as possible, to group pre-school learners according
to their ages and in so-doing try and level the playing field. Adjudicators will
judge according to the age of the learner and not generalise the pre-school or
Grade R phase. In this respect, we would like to appeal to all coaches,
educators and parents to indicate the age of the learner when completing
the entry form.
Entry Form
• It is the participant’s responsibility to ensure that he/she is entered for the
correct item and that the information submitted on the google entry form is
correct, including the spelling of names
• In a group, the individual with the highest grade will determine the grade
under which the group will be entered
• A separate entry form should be completed for each individual
participant/group
• On small groups must be completed on the excel spreadsheet, the names and
grades of all participants must be indicated, it must remain unchanged as
certificates will be printed based on original entries only. Should participants
change, the cost of additional certificates will be charged.
• All the information as required on the google entry form should be provided
• All entries for an individual should be provided on the same form
• Please ensure that the exact number of members in a group is indicated on
the entry form

• It is possible to print individual certificates for large group participant,
provided that correct names are on the list and submitted to the office at least
ONE WEEK before the performance
Awards
Certificates will be issued to each participant according to the following
criteria:
▪ Diamond (A++) - 95% +
▪ Platinum (A+) - 90% - 94%
▪ Gold (A) - 85% - 89%
▪ Gold (A-) - 80% - 84%
▪ Silver (B) - 70% - 79%
▪ Certificate - Acknowledgement
Awards Ceremony
Gala Awards ceremony will be held after the eisteddfod.
(COMMUNICATION WILL BE SENT OUT CLOSER TO THE TIME)
Awards will be issued in various categories.
A certificate will be issued to category winners (individuals who obtained the
highest percentage in a specific phase with a minimum of 95% (Diamond)
as follows:
✓ Grade 0 (R) – 3, Grade 4 – 6, Grade 7 – 9, Grade 10 - Open
Section
Category winners will be presented to the individual who obtained the
highest number of Diamond awards in a specific category: Vocal,
Instrumental, Speech and Drama, Dance and Creative Work (A GOOGLE
DRIVE LINK WILL BE SENT OUT)
The Top Twenty Performers (in individual items) will become members of the

Diamond Club.

SECTION B –INSTRUMENTAL SECTION
Entries are categorised according to school grades. Grading in this context has
no link with the grading of external examining bodies as a performance level
indicator.
All students who have been studying music for less than 18 months
should enter in the novice category.
It is recommended that more advanced participants are encouraged to
perform works as they were originally composed, rather than simplified
arrangements.
The classification of music into style periods is determined by the
characteristics of music rather than dates.
A recital will be a programme consisting of 3 pieces. The pieces must contrast
in style and/or tempo and /or character. No piece that has been entered
separately may be performed in this section.
Solo instrumentalists may perform items unaccompanied or accompanied.
All solo performances should be entered in categories for “solo”
performances (although it might be accompanied by a piano) and will be
adjudicated as solo performances, except if the accompanist is also a student.
Bands/orchestras/ensembles will be classified as any combination of string,
woodwind and brass instruments with or without percussion. Entries in this
section may consist of a short programme, not exceeding 10 minutes.
Percussion bands will be classified as such if it consists of tuned or/and
untuned percussion instruments, with or without piano accompaniment.
When accompaniment is used, the standard of the accompaniment should at
least equal the standard of the performance as it forms part of the ensemble.
Please note that all performances should remain within the time limit.
Exceeding the time limit may result in the termination of the performance.
Entries in the “Other Instruments Not Listed” category, must specify the instrument
to ensure correct adjudication.
Participants provide own instruments.
