‫﴿َلَقْد َر ِضَي الَّلُه َعِن اْلُمْؤِمِنيَن ِإْذ ُيَباِيُعوَنَك َتْح َت الَّش َج َر ِة َفَعِلَم َما‬
‫َأ‬
‫ِفي ُقُلوِبِهْم َف نَز َل الَّس ِكيَنَة‬
.﴾‫َعَلْيِهْم َوَأَثاَبُهْم َفْتحًا َقِريبًا‬

Hadeeth

Prophet Muhammed, peace be upon him, said "If a Muslim


plants a tree or sows seeds, and then a bird, or a person or an
animal eats from it, it is regarded as a charitable gift (sadaqah
‫ )صدقة‬for him." – Related by Imam Bukhari.

Arbor Day
Arbor Day or tree planting day, is a holiday in which individuals
and groups are encouraged to plant and care for trees.
It originated in Nebraska City in the United States of America by
J. Sterling Morton. The first Arbor Day was held on April 10,
1872 and an estimated one million trees were planted that day.
Many countries now observe a similar holiday.
Did you know?
Did you know that A number of trees are mentioned in the
Quran and Sunnah, some of which will be discussed below:

1- The date palm tree.


2- The blessed olive tree.
3- The tree which Allah caused to grow for Yunus (upon whom
be peace) for food and healing.
4- Sidrat al-Muntaha (‫)سدرة المنتهى‬, by which the Prophet
(peace and blessings be upon him) saw Jibril when he was
taken up into the heavens.
5- The Tree of Tooba in Paradise.
6- The tree of Zaqqum, which is the food of the people of Hell.
7- The tree under which the Prophet (peace and blessings be
upon him) accepted(‫ )بيعة الرضوان‬.
8- The tree from which Allah forbade our father and mother
(Adam and Hawwa) to eat.
