Imperative verb forms functions
The imperative verb form has several different functions in sentences.
Imperatives can be used to:
1- give an order or a command:
Come here.
2- make a request:
Please take a seat.
3- give a warning:
Watch out.
4- offer advice:
Check your notes.
5- make a recommendation or suggestion:
Start with the personal details.

Read this explanation of how to form the
imperative. What words go in the gaps?

d. A family member has just come to visit you.
Help yourself to anything you want. / Have a seat / Make yourself comfortable.
e. You need to explain to someone how to find your school.
Listen carefully. / Go online and find the map.
f. Your friend is asking you what to do about a problem he has.
Try asking yourself why it happened. / Talk to someone at school.
