Unique Paper Code : 32517907

Name of the Course : B. Sc.(H) Electronics
Name of the Paper : Digital Signal Processing
Semester : V
Duration : 3 Hour
Maximum Marks : 75

Instruction for Candidates

1. There are six questions in all, out of which you have to attempt any four questions
2. All questions carry equal marks

Q1. A causal LTI system is described by the difference equation

y(n)-ay(n-1)= b x(n) + x(n-1)

where a is real and its magnitude is less than 1.Find a value of b (b ≠ a) such that the
frequency response is independent of frequency.

Q2. Find inverse Z transform of the following functions.

6z
X1(z) = once with ROC |z|>2 and then with ROC |z|<1
z 2  3z  2

z
X2(z) = once with ROC |z|>(1/6) and then with ROC |z|<(1/6)
(z  (1 / 6))2

Q3. Consider the following causal linear shift invariant (LTI) filter with system function
(1  0.5z 1 )
H(z)=
1  0.35z 1

 0.45z 2 1  0.9z 1 
Draw three realizations structures of the system that is; Direct form I, Direct form II,
Parallel form and Transposed form.

Q4. Compute 4 point DFT X1 (k) of the following function x1 (n). Find IDFT of X2(k).
Also find circular convolution of x1(n) and x2(n).
x1 (n) = Sin (π n), X2(k)= [0,-j6,0,j6]

Q5. What are the advantages of using FFT algorithm? Draw basic butterfly diagram for
DIF-FFT. Determine 8 point DFT X(k) using DIF-FFT algorithm of following
function. Show all the intermediate results.
x (n)= {0,-1,-2,-3,-4,-5,-6,-7}

Q6. An IIR digital LPF has a passband edge frequency ωp = 0.3π. What is the passband
edge frequency in Hz of the prototype analog Low Pass Filter if the digital filter is
designed by two methods i.e. impulse invariant method and bilinear transformation
with T=0.1 ms?
