Romance: "Letters in The Wall"
Romance: "Letters in The Wall"
Maya bought the old farmhouse to escape the city. While repainting the study, she found a loose
panel in the wall. Inside, wrapped in yellowed twine, were letters—dozens of them.
Each was signed “Eleanor,” and addressed to “James.” The dates were from the 1940s. A war
romance, long-distance and passionate.
As Maya read them, she found herself falling—not just for the letters, but for Eleanor’s bravery, wit,
and longing.
One letter ended with: “If you find these someday, please find me.”
Then, in a retirement home in Maine, Maya found her: Eleanor, 97, still waiting.
“You’re not James,” Eleanor whispered, smiling. “But I knew someone would come.”
